Save your money, what you save here goes a long way to cover the local overpriced/oversized seafood meals. Very good value. More bang for the buck. how can I say 'An upgraded Econo Lodge' It seems like someone put a discount price on Mar-a-lago. Through the change in franchise monikers this property drops in to a budget category but with upgraded furnishing and appointments. Tough in this sleepy, little fishing port, to have a profitable property. I understand. If you can take advantage of the pricing, I would reccommend.

Good value for the price I was very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of this room. Good choice for a restful sleep while traveling. Room was clean. Shower felt great. No issues. Would stay again. I expected much less quality, but was pleasantly surprised. The bed was really comfortable.

Dark, rundown and depressing After staying based on more recent reviews, I went back and looked at reviews as far back as 2018 after our trip. There is no way this can be rated 4 or 5 stars. The same issues then are still there. I doubt the pool has been opened in several years. The roof is being replaced and apparently has caused damaged in the Sheetrock on the first floor. Left the property when I came back the sheetrock had been cut from floor up about 18”. The room had a second class paint job, paint smeared on fixtures. Dingy floors in the corners of bath. All the fixtures need to be replaced. Breakfast offering was dismal. I would be skeptical eating anything that could be out of date since there was only one other car in the parking lot when I was there. Low watt light bulbs, good luck reading. Lights were off in reception area except area of check in. The vending machines has no prices on them, wonder how much a candy bar would cost and I also wonder how fresh it was. This place needs a gut job, not a lipstick fix. The outlet mall next door, as the way of most, is vacant and depressing. I never figured out the fairly new welcome center. Closed the two days we were in the area. But Darien is worth a good day’s visit.

Things happen; How they are fixed make for a happy stay. Rooms are spacious and clean. The staff was truly helpful in guiding us to good restaurants. We are looking forward to returning for more than a night in order to explore some of the historical sights.

Service Could Be Better Our first room had a plugged tub. We went to the front desk and the man said, "What do you want me to do about it?" He insisted to inspect it. Once there, he couldn't fix it. We then switched rooms across the hall. They didn't have any forks at breakfast. They have waffles, wrapped pastries, cereal, milk, orange juice, and coffee. It is a old, safe and clean motel. We would rate it higher if treated more respectfully.
