Refreshing realization I stayed here on business a few months prior to this but neglected to review. This is a very nice hotel, located in Downers Grove. This is a more upscale suburb of Chicago. I have to say, As a staunch conservative, I wasn't expecting to like Chicago. I am sure metro Chicago has its issues but Downers Grove wasn't plauged by them.

A decent but a bit dated hotel The title says it all. The hotel was actually adequate in many ways for someone who is traveling on business for a single night stay. The breakfast was good with cheerful staff and a variety of offerings. The room had 2 of the 3 things I always look for. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. My biggest issues was that the curtain leaked in a lot of light in the morning on the sides and you are up at the crack of dawn. I hate when hotels do this as it seems like a pretty simple issue to ave curtains that can fully block out the light. The other thing I find irking was the fact that you are in the suburbs and they charge $12.50 a day to park in a parking lot with plenty of room to park. It just seems like a hidden charge on the bill.

Overpriced This hotel was a joke for $160/night. The center of the hotel is open to all the floors above, so if there is a wedding (as there was when I was there) prepare not to sleep at all that night or the morning after. Laptop safe battery was dead (useless). No housekeeping service whatsoever the second day. The bathroom was incredibly small with absolutely no ventilation, so prepare to perspire before you can even dry yourself off. Tub was an overlay renovation, so very narrow and had a large bar protruding from the wall. The bottom of the tub was no longer flat, which made it difficult to remain upright while showering. The floor of tub was about 10 inches above the bathroom floor, so you had to "stick the dismount" when exiting the tub with slippery feet. Thermostat wouldn't cool the room unless the fan was set to manual. A/C was so loud it would wake you up. Could see dust bunnies in the ventilation duct covers. Gave one extra star because the bed was comfortable. There are about 10 other things that were terrible, but I'll stop now. In the future, if it has the word "Hilton" in it, I'll just move on.

Shame on the cleaning crew Nice hotel but shame on maintenance, the whole purpose was to be here for a relaxing weekend. The pool water was so cloudy_. Couldn’t enjoy it after seeing a bunch of dirty bits at the bottom of the pool. You can tell the area of the pool has not been sweep, garbage not pick up. Someone left fresh towels but did not pick up garbage on the floor, several pieces of used bandages left on the floor. I thought maybe the hot tub can save the day but sadly it was lukewarm and weak jets streaming. Nice big hotel room, the sheets feels cleaned, the bathrooms shower/tub does not drain, left you standing in a pool of soapy water, the vanity sink water once it gets hot there’s no dialing down at all. Scalding hot, couldn’t even rinse my mouth after brushing my teeth. Lastly hotel keep promoting there’s chocolate chip cookies but both night there were none to be found!!

Great but can be better… This hotel is 30mins by car away from the downtown. I stayed here due to work as it has nice skybridge connection to the office building next door. First impression did not go as well upon arrival for check in. Staff on duty was friendly and professional enough but she looked visibly tired and distracted. Other days were fine and all good. The room is huge but pretty dated furnishings. Still everything was well maintained and clean and organized. Bath tub has old stained but not an issue. Lightings are adequate too. Oh yes the water out of the sink in the room and the water fountain came out translucent. Not sure if safe to drink so I sticked buying water bottles. Lobby came with snack bar area for purchase 24/7. Starbucks is there too. There’s Italian restaurant and food not too bad. Breakfast has a good spread but everyday exactly the same. Service level from egg station were inconsistent - one day willing to make other types of eggs but most days only wanna stick to omelette. Apart from that, rest of the staffs were great. Hilton should look into improving its sustainability standard for this hotel. I must say it’s not quite existent.
