Beautiful and peaceful We were at this venue for a destination wedding with a fairly large group. What a beautiful place large setting beautiful to walk around. With horses and an aggressive duck who is guarding the horses. The rooms are large and breezy no need for a/c just the surrounding air. Beautiful deck with an amazing view I would have stayed longer. The breakfast table was amazing and the staff the absolute best around. Most don't speak English but still trying their best to help their guests. I put them to the test and they delivered (safety box locked). For a special venue or just to unwind after the husle and bustle of Guadalajara this place is like an oasis. Did I mention the Sierra Madre in the background.

Real Hacienda We stayed at Hacienda El Carmen as part of a large group attending a destination wedding weekend and had a wonderful time! The hacienda and grounds are peaceful, beautiful and have a very authentic feel. The amenities are limited so do not expect to have every last whim attended to. Go for the beauty, peace, and quiet that this place has in abundance!

Classic old Mexico stay You know it's going to be a great stay when your greeted with a tequila! The place is so beautiful we hired a photographer to do family pictures on the grounds. It's very close to the pyramids and not far from Tequila. Their bar has the best strawberry margarita I ever had.

Interesting Hacienda good for a romantic time. Creepy at night (in a good way) This Hacienda is pretty. Keep in mind, there is not reliable internet, or tv’s inside the rooms. The internet quality makes it unsuitable for business purposes, and the lack of TV is not good for kinds. This place is old, the rooms can be scary if you are not familiar with this type of architecture (an old nun convent). Beds are not soft. However you go there for the experience at an Hacienda. It’s so green during day light, and if you go alone with your spouse, or special someone, it may be very romantic. At night time it’s very dark, too dark for me. Food is good. Again not my type of place, but enjoyable enough. Also a good thing IT HAS A GYM!

Restaurant did not meet up to recommendations We were recommended to have lunch at Hacienda El Carmen after touring the nearby ruins on a Sunday afternoon. The property and grounds are lovely and we would have liked to have lunch in their outdoor area however it was reserved and we could only dine indoors. The menu, which was in Spanish with no English interpretation (unlike that of small family restaurants we had eaten at) and the menu options were limited, the wait staff was not very helpful, attentive, or friendly. The meals that we all had were not only double the cost of what we paid at other family restaurants we had eaten at during the week we vacationed in Mexico, it was also the worst meal of our entire trip. If I'm in the area, I definitely won't be going back.
