The Hotel that Ghosts You When Informed of a Maintenance Issue I called this hotel before commuting into the Dayton International Airport to confirm that they provided transportation to and from the airport. They said they did. When I arrived at the airport and called them, they said that they could not get ahold of their driver to come pick me up. It was a $15.95 Uber ride to the hotel. They did not offer reimbursement. The room was okay, about what I expected for a Clarion Inn. Breakfast was standard hotel breakfast. Location is good for proximity to a park with hiking/running/biking trails, restaurants, and grocery store. I went for a run before checking out and needed a shower. The shower provided a trickle of water. I ended up turning on the tub faucet and laying on the tub floor to rinse my hair out. It was far from ideal. I requested a refund for 50% of cost of my stay at checkout as the main purpose one usually stays at a hotel is for a comfortable bed and a warm shower. I did not get the latter. The front desk attendant told me she did not have the authority to make that decision and directed me to email a video of the showerhead's performance to the hotel manager and gave me an email address. I did this while standing there. I followed up 48 hours later after receiving no response. I have attempted to call this hotel numerous times since this stay and no one answers the phone. I contacted corporate Choice Hotels and they apologized for this franchise owners lack of attention by giving me 8000 points to use toward a stay at one of their other hotels. Most hotels in this area require 12-20,000 points for a free nights stay. A month has passed with no response from this hotel. The morning I left, the hotel driver was there. He was a kind, older gentleman. He told me that they never called him the day before to come get me. He insisted I sit in the front seat of the van as it had an airbag and he wanted me to be safe. He would not accept a tip for handling my bags. He was the highlight of my stay. Good conversation and sense of humor.

OMG RUN Made reservation while traveling. Very courteous desk girl. During the finalization of the reservation we were told there would not be any refunds. That should have been the end of that call. Reason? Well, the place looked okay of from the outside. Inside was a different story. Dirty carpet, dirty floors in bath, dirty sink, dirty room refrigerator with leftover groceries (thanks but no thanks). All walls needed paint or repairs. Dirt on the front of every room door. Filthy bathroom tile grout. There was actually some sort of black junk on top of gray floor grout. All security access doors from parking lots missing locks. No key needed to access halls or stairwells from remote parking lots or any outside area. Anyone, not just guests, could enter from any direction at any time. People in front standing around drinking beer and smoking near the entrance. Breakfast was a thing from the past ( literally! ). Is there an upside to this place you ask? Yes, I didn't see one cockroach. My guess they are smarter than I give them credit for and stayed somewhere else.

Older Hotel being Redone with Very Basic Stuff Stayed 2 nights in May on a trip in Ohio. An older hotel. Saw workers fixing lobby the days we were there so looks to be under construction. Rooms had enough sockets. Not sure if related to our stay or more global. There was a shortage of towels and hotel worker could not provide enough towels for each person in party for both nights initially. Worker had to bring the towels to the room maybe 1 hour later after we told them. No orange juice for breakfast (machine out). Breakfast - waffles, cereal, apples, some eggs, toast Have lemonade in lobby.

Condemnable This hotel is in significant disrepair and is a safety risk. It is not clean. I could not stay there. I believe it should be condemned. Choice customer service was very poor and unhelpful. Fortunately, I was able to book Marriott property in Dayton which exceeded expectations.

Cheap Hotel with Dirty Rooms I travel frequently for business. I do not have very high standards for cleanliness and understand a low cost hotel will have low standards when it comes to amenities and overall appearance. This place was terrible! Do not stay here if you wish for a clean room. The first room I was given had not been cleaned at all, the cleaning crew had missed it entirely. Fine. Mistakes happen. I returned to the desk and was given another room. That one had been "cleaned" but very poorly. There were pubic hairs and stains on the toilet. I returned to the desk and was offered another room by the very friendly desk attendant. We looked at that one and found it also unsatisfactory. I borrowed some cleaning materials and returned to my room only to find the heater not working. The Manager (Nimish Brahmbhatt) was pleasant but also adamant that I could only receive another room in that hotel or one in a Comfort Inn he owned nearby. I preferred reward points as compensation for my lost time. He would not do this. I finally took him up on the offer of the nearby Comfort Inn & Suites at 9305 N. Main St. / Dayton, OH 45415. That was only a little better. Terrible pillows and several groups of people yelling in the halls at all hours. If you are looking for a low-cost dirty room: stay at this hotel. I will not return to either of them.
