Looks & Feels like a Small Spanish Villa in the Heart of Escazu Having remembered this hotel, I'm saddened to know it closed down as it has one of the best beds & rooms in San Jose. Big king sized beds with high ceiling spacious rooms and big shower rooms. First time coming to CR last Feb, we find the basement parking safe and the staff exemplary. Downside is that the free breakfast only comprises of toast, eggs, & fruit, as well as the pool is really small and not enticing. But the landscaping still feels that you're in nature despite the hotel is located in a city. Hope new management brings about more amenities and better free breakfast.

This hotel is now closed and for sale!! This hotel is now closed and for sale. Could be a nice hotel if someone managed it correctly. Actually, a nice property. Want to buy a hotel? Check this one out! This hotel had 27 rooms, as I recall, and was build from scratch about 6 or 7 years ago. They put in a lot of money but I think it was just managed poortly.

Hotel Closed Showed up today (May 23) and hotel was closed. Evidently it has been closed for at least a month. The reservation site evidently was not aware of this since they sent me a reminder confirmation about a week ago. We showed up at the hotel and it was chained up. Fortunately we were able to get a room in downtown San Jose. I am glad this was not my first trip to Costa Rica and we have friends that live here as well. Time for a refund.

Hotel is CLOSED I made a reservation for this hotel two weeks ago through a third party reservation site and I received confirmation. The reservation was for Friday, May 15th. The minute I received my confirmation, I started calling the hotel to book spa appointments and to coordinate airport shuttles for Saturday morning. I called several times and nobody answer. This should have been a clue. On Friday morning, we arrived at the property and noticed all the doors were chained. I asked what happened and was informed the hotel had been closed for three weeks taken over by La Caja which is the equivalent to the Social Security Administration in U.S. and that the owners had filed for bankruptcy. They also told me the hotel would reopen in about three months under new management.

Best beds ever The beds are the best part of this hotel--that and the front desk customer service. Kudos to Leo, Jason and Johnathan for exemplary service. I had the best sleeps in these beds despite the fact that the hotel was located in an area where cars frequently squealed up the street. We were there for a week, and after a few nights all the tension in my neck and shoulders was gone. The rooms are equipped with solid king size mattresses with six king size pillows and a duvet. I only wish I could have transported my bed to the next hotel! There were issues with the air conditioner while there but we were provided with a floor fan which helped a lot. The pool is small and dark and we only went in it once. We were targeted by a squirrel who followed us around in the trees above eating mangos and dropping pieces of skins and half mangoes on us. It was hilarious (but only because none of the mangoes actually fell on our heads). The restaurant is okay and we ate there twice out of convenience, but it is overpriced and the food wasn't fabulous, nor was the service (some of the staff could learn some lessons from the front desk staff). I would return here but mainly because of the beds and the front desk service.
