A Grand Escape with Casual Comfort This Homestead is a rare find these days. A beautiful Historic home on a quiet side street, with only 3 rooms that are Guest quarters, it feels very cozy and warm. You enjoy breakfast in the formal dining room after choosing from, a variety of hot and cold items which are presented on the Kitchen island. Coffee, Tea, Fresh fruit and snacks are available anytime. The house is spotlessly maintained. Lisa the Innkeeper, full of energy and enjoyable to talk to, gave us a warm Welcome and showed us the amenities then brought us to our beautiful, sun filled and spacious room, The Warren. Our private bathroom, tub and shower, was just the next door over. The Bed was amazingly comfortable and linens luxurious. The other 2 rooms have the bath en suite. Paul the owner lives in the Home. He is very willing to converse about his house or the local area. He is a gracious Host.

A lovely place to stay! I’m not sure why there aren’t more reviews for this lovely inn. We were pleasantly surprised and would certainly recommend it. The house is quite fabulous inside and the lovely Elizabeth took her time to explain some of the history. She also cooked a lovely breakfast. Our rooms were beautiful- and, contrary to other comments, we loved the beautiful super high bed. The only reason for 4 rating rather than 5 was that we didn’t have our own bathroom. Nevertheless , it was in a little corridor shared by our teenagers and ourselves. Bathrobes were provided. It still deserves 4.5. I would DEFINITELY recommend this lovely, historic homestead. Do give it a try!

Disappointing Spent two nights here. Wouldn’t do it again if we had it to do over. House itself is lovely and there is history here. But it’s almost as if the owner is trying to make it based on the history rather than what is offered for the guests in the way of service and amenities. As I said, the house is beautiful. However, the grounds aren’t anything to write home about. The whole backyard is fenced off and hidden behind tarps because it is a disaster. It needs a lot of attention and TLC. The rooms are small as they are in a lot of older homes. And we were surprised to find that the doors to the bedrooms did not have locks on them. First and only time we’ve experienced that. They would have been large enough if there wasn’t so much furniture in them. We didn’t have room to have our two suitcases open and walk around the room but there was an old chair and a dresser with some antique porcelain-ware on it taking up space. The chair was very uncomfortable (We could feel every spring in it when we sat down and noticed the same same on some of the other furniture in the common areas of the house.) and the dresser, while a nice piece of furniture, took up space that could have been more efficiently used in a small room. The bathroom was very small also and the biggest issue was there wasn’t any place to put our toiletries. And finding a used washcloth on the floor when we checked in didn’t help with our impression of the care and attention given to cleaning measures taken between guests. Breakfast also left something to be desired. They set out a counter with pastries and fresh fruit, juice and coffee and a variety of cereals. Something was mentioned about being able to make eggs if we wanted them but we had the distance impression that doing so would be an inconvenience. WiFi was available but we found it to be intermittent in our room. The final straw for us was that we had reserved two rooms with king beds on the second floor. But after the reservation was confirmed, we had a call from the owner that he had messed up the reservations and double booked a room. So we would have to have one of our two rooms be a room with a queen bed on the third floor. It turned out that the room was more suited for Hobbits than normal size humans and for that nuisance and having to carry luggage up an extra flight of narrow and steep stairs, no offer of a discounted rate was made. Overall, just a major disappointment on several fronts which made this an overpriced and overrated experience.

DELIGHTFUL STAY Daughter and I stayed in the same front bedroom (with window A/C) as "NewYorkRee". She is incorrect: the owner DOES live in the property. We stayed two nights. The bed was great. If you're unhappy with the pillows, bring your own -- they were fine for us! The breakfast and table conversation with other guests was GREAT. Visited with the owner for hours!! Loved the house, it's history, the furnishings, all beautiful. LOVED OUR STAY, Paul. -- In re questions below: I wouldn't know if linens were sanitized in a high-temp wash (ridiculous question); I don't use hand sanitizer; why would we be required to wear face masks when things have "opened up"? again ridiculous question); not a modern house, historic home; don't use hair dryers so don't know the answer to that one. -- Paul, you run a wonderful Bed & Breakfast - make no mistake, this is no "bed and bath" - Paul and his home were great!!

Delightful home and neighborhood We spent 2 nights while visiting our daughter in Fairhaven. This historic house is well maintained and clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the room was quiet. Good night sleep in a beautiful setting-- will be back!
