Exceeded expectations Although it's a bit hidden and hard to find I loved convenience of the location! It is right next to the mall and other shopping plazas and many restaurants. The kind ladies that work the front desk were very accommodating. They were lovely to be around and made my family feel very welcomed. My stay was very quiet and I had the best hotel coffee I've ever had when I woke up lol very strong! I would recommend this place definitely get your money's worth!

Poor customer service I booked and prepaid through booking.com only to have the manager of the hotel canceled my reservation and then I told him through the customer service person booking.com that if I didn't stay at their hotel that night I was going to be outside in the cold the manager at the hotel said he didn't care if I froze outside he has still not refunded my total stay amount of 248.92 I have contacted PNC bank customer service 2 times to resolve this issue. Never stayed even 1 night at the hotel and that's not Wright poor customer service to say the least

BED BUGS and Uninhabitable - Do not believe the online photos or description. It is a concerted attempt to deceive you My son and I came to Fort Wayne on a last minute opportunity to play in a basketball tournament. Prior to making the 9-10 hour drive from Minnesota, we needed to find a hotel so we went on Priceline to find a place for the weekend. We booked a stay and during our drive to FW, I received a notice that my hotel had an unexpected cancellation. It was about 5:30 pm so we pulled over to research and reserve a different hotel. After looking at a variety of hotels (descriptions and pictures), we decided on the Magnuson Hotel - the price sounded like a deal, given the fact that all the traditional hotels were already full (due to the National Tournament). Through Priceline, we did the reservation (the booking required that I pay immediately, given the demand for hotels this weekend). It was fine though because the pictures of the hotel showed a very nice campus with updated appliances, Wi-Fi, Continental breakfast, and most importantly, clean and sanitary rooms (I’m a frequent traveler anyway, but during the last few summers, basketball requires us to travel at least 3 weekends per month, so the one constant that I require is a clean and safe place, even if I have to pay more than I would like to). We arrive at the hotel and as we are pulling in the lot, the first thing my son said was “Dad, I don’t think this is the place on the Priceline App”. I double check and it is. Upon entering the hotel, you are immediately smacked with the smell of cigarettes, great/slippery/and dusty floors. There is an old round wood table, with its 4th leg being “stabilized” by a Yellow Pages phone book (no f****** lie - Yellow Pages). The entry way or “lobby” was dimly lit and the front desk area was unoccupied with a sign that said press 0 on this phone (but it should have said “dial 0” because it was a rotary phone). We check in and begin to head to the carpeted stair well (the hotel does not have an elevator - just one set of stairs. I felt like I was in a horror movie). My only thoughts walking up those stairs were “I wonder what my son is thinking” and “there still might be a chance that our room actually matches the photos from the Priceline App”. My hopes of a decent room vanished as soon as we reached the top of the stair case, when I seen the hallway. It looked like we were in an old abandoned building (I grew up poor in a major city during the 80s and 90s, so I’m familiar with what the crack epidemic did to my neighborhood and community - this hotel hallway was as dilapidated as any I had ever witnessed - my son had never experienced anything like this though). At this point, I was 90% sure that we weren’t staying, but I had already paid a non-refundable payment for the weekend (about $300), so I had to at least look and see if the rooms were habitable. I open the door - everything that you would imagine. A mini fridge that upon opening had a half eaten banana that appeared frozen, the door handle had a smear stain (not exactly sure with what, but it was a mixture of pink and yellow). The tv was a 32 inch that sat atop a small square kitchen(?) table. It was supposed to have two Queen beds, but they were either twin or full beds and one of the beds had a broken base board, so the bottom corner tilted down towards the floor and the mattress corner was actually touching the floor. The room was dark and I did not attempt to touch the topless lamp sitting on the chair. Before my son sat down on the bed (I’m going to spare you the visuals of the mismatch bed comforters and the rest of the room), I told him to stop. I needed to check the beds to see if the sheets were clean. I pulled back the filthy comforter about 6” and the very first thing I see is a juicy, glossy, food crumb of some sort…At least that’s what I initially assumed it was. Just before flicking it away so I could continue to inspect, I realized that the glossy food crumb has tiny LEGS. It was a nasty (and healthy - full of its favorite food) BED BUG!! I immediately told my son to start bringing the luggage to the car and told him we were leaving immediately. I ran down to the front desk area and told the manager that we are leaving bcuz of several reasons, but the most disgusting reason was because there was an infestation of bed bugs that littered the sheets. I expected the manager to respond in shock or disbelief. I expected him to want to escort me to the room and ask to see for himself. However, and credit to him, his response was, I will give u a refund, but you will have to call Priceline to request your money back. He (Mila) was very quick to allow me to leave without penalty - I want to acknowledge the managers honesty. He was a nice enough guy, but it was more than obvious that the discovery of bed bugs was not a foreign complaint. (I’m not positive, but I think the small hotel operates as low-income housing/shelter and a hotel). Ok, ok - enough about the hotel - You get the point… But, Priceline, even after explaining everything, tried to deny my refund due to the reservation being a “non-refundable rate”. After nearly 2 hours of back and forth, they agreed to return my funds to my credit card within 5 business days. Not once did Priceline apologize or take accountability for allowing this hotel to pass as a member/contracted partner hotel. Instead, the rep “Mae” did her very best to tell me that I could not get a refund (until the manager himself told her that he agreed to the refund). I understand a no refund policy, but you can not promise a service or product and not only not provide that service, but put your customers in unsanitary and uninhabitable dwellings. At some point, Priceline needs to be held responsible! I paid them as a third party (it is their duty to assure their customers that they are not placing them in danger). I have no idea how this place is even standing, much less operating as a hotel! The manager of the hotel seemed to be a good person and never once challenged my demand for a refund. But, Priceline couldn’t even offer me an apology or a sincere commitment to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I screen shot my entire chat log with Priceline and look forward to sharing it with the proper investigating agencies (I’m in the process of learning what and who those agencies are). This review is the longest review that I’ve ever written. But, if you don’t take heed to anything that I’ve written, I implore u to NEVER, EVER take one step into this building. Sleep in your vehicle if necessary, but no matter the circumstance (I was 12 hours from home in a town with my 17 y/o son that had almost 95% of its hotels reserved/occupied and I would have stayed in my car if necessary), DO NOT STAY at the Magnuson Hotel. Eventually, I decided to pay the premium hotel rate at a traditional hotel chain at $275 per night. And, even though my money from this reservation will not be available to me for a while, my only options were to pay $600 for a hotel or sleep in my car. I will NEVER USE PRICELINE AGAIN! They are fully aware of the condition of this hotel and will continue to promote it on their site as a full qualifying partner hotel.
