Trains, a freeway, and roaches, no thanks. My husband and I have stay at Hampton Inns all the time. We have never complained about any of them. The Gainesville, Virginia, Hampton inn is located next to the 66 freeway, and this is not abnormal. A lot of hotels are located next to freeways. But this particular Hampton also has freight train tracks right next to it. And I mean right next to the hotel. So throughout the night you hear trains going by, and they blow the whistle. So you have the 66 and the trains. But, in this particular Hampton inn we also had roaches sharing our room. So, I have to say this Hampton inn was the worst we’ve ever stayed in. We actually left early and didn’t spend our second night there because it was too noisy and we didn’t like the bugs. It was a very bad experience. Will never stay there again.

Black mould in bathroom..now the second time We stayed at this hotel over the last 6 to 8 years and most recently in June and had issues with the room being dirty, especially black mould in the bathroom (along with soaking wet carpeting, dirty towels dumped in our sink and a terrible smell). Upon check out the Manager said he would address the issues. We decided to give them a second chance and again in a different room there was black mould as shown in the photos. We also requested 2 additional pillows be brought to the room, which never showed up. Upon returning to the room at 11pm I had to go downstairs and request pillows....then pillowcases! The hotel appears to be in some type of renovation stage. Although there was no online notice there were signs posted throughout the facility. I could not in good conscience recommend this this facility any longer.

Worst hotel and manager ever and I travel a lot! Last minute reservation for business. Room wreaked of mildew and marijuana like Cool and the gang had just stayed there. Asked for another room. Manager came out and said no other rooms available and I had to take that one. I explained that I do not have to accept it and decided to look elsewhere. Manager said he was going to charge me 1 night stay for refusing the room. I explained this was no different than renting a car with 4 flat tires, I do not have to accept it if it's not up to standards. He argued and said since I swiped my credit card for the pre-authorization and before seeing my room, I had "checked in" and he could now charge me a 1 night fee for "early check-out" even though I had only been there for 15 minutes and never used the room. I explained that as FEDROOMs booked hotel, they can't charge me for cancellation prior to 4 PM per contract, he disagreed, told me he didn't care, and was going to charge me anyways. As you can see from his hand-written receipt, I checked in at 2:40 and out at 3:05. As I walked out, I told him what a disappointment his hotel was to the otherwise awesome Hilton brand and I would be filing a complaint. He simply said "good luck!" I filed my first ever formal complaint with Hilton Corporate. Long story short after a letter and a few phone calls, I got the 1 night charge plus taxes back in a check. I'm 50+ years old, a Hilton Honors member, and have never, ever had to file anything with corporate because a reasonable manager in this case would have simply not charged me for a sub-par room. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND staying here no matter if it's the only thing available as long as manager Tim Harps is employed there. He is a very insincere and dishonest person not worthy of working for the Hilton/Hampton Inn brand.

What's happened to HAMPTON INN? I am a loyal Hilton Honors fan and member. I would have a difficult time coming up with a time that I was so disappointed with a Hampton Inn as I was with the one at Haymarket, VA. The air conditioner was not working properly and two light fixtures were not working. Plus, the room is in need of an upgrade or renovation. It is well worn. In fairness, the desk offered to switch our rooms, but we had had a long drive and had already unpacked and settled in. We were hoping the room would cool off. We had to set the temperature at 60 to get it mildly comfortable, but it got no where near that temperature. I will continue to use HAMPTON INN, but will be more careful in reading the reviews of the specific hotel before booking.

Comfy and Clean The Hampton Inn was one of the best hotels I've experienced in terms of comfort. It ticked almost every box to meet an excellent stay. The room was spotless, all amenities were stocked. The mattresses and linens felt brand new, crisp, and clean; and, finally a hotel that gets the pillows right! They weren't flat or too full, and there was a nice assortment of pillow lofts. They also seemed new. A fridge, refrigerator and coffee maker in the room was nice. The bathroom was updated, with hot water at a good pressure. To be super picky -- no safe in the room seemed like an oversight, and the towels were too thin for my liking. For the price and location, this hotel does it right! We did hear the train, which was VERY loud in the afternoon, but heard nothing during the night or morning. We were there on a weekend, so there could be a limited schedule?
