Very satisfied I spent a few days at this quaint hotel, and I am very happy that I did. The service was excellent, the rooms were very comfortable (incredibly spacious) and the breakfast spread was great. The staff was very helpful - what more could one want? I absolutely loved the lift/elevator!!

Faded old lady with room for improvement I suppose the best word to describe this hotel is quaint and it certainly has it's good points but we found it a relief to leave after two nights and certainly wouldn't recommend it. It's a shame because the location is good with shops and restaurants within walking distance, the breakfast was ample and fresh, and the place seems fairly clean but it's just too faded and decrepit for my taste. Our room was large and the bed was a good size but the only way we could get rid of the terrible smell was by leaving the window open for two whole days. The shower screen was hopeless and I spent most of my time trying to stop it cuddling me whilst using the shower, and we had to run the shower for seven minutes each time before any hot water would flow. The decor is pretty grim, the lighting in the room was either gloomy or overly bright depending on which lights you used, the carpet was stained, and it was impossible to open any of the cardboard sachets of shower gel. It just seemed as if the place has stopped trying. The lift is wonderful and well worth a visit to coo over it, but don't try and stop for a drink in the bar as it all becomes too much like Fawlty Towers for words. The reception staff could do with an overhaul too. Some were absolutely excellent, but at least two of them could never be bothered to raise their heads to even note who was coming through their doors yet along greet anyone. Definitely not worth the premium price paid.

First stay in Genova Charming old hotel with a beautiful lobby and breakfadt room. We were on top floor, 6th. Room was simple, two of four lamps not working, only chair falling apart and a terrible sweet smell in the room. Clean enough, good beds. Good location. Good breakfast and friendly service

Try somewhere else. We stayed here last night after an unexpected arrival in Genova due to Pisa airport storm. Good points - it's near the station and staff are friendly and the breakfast was good. The public areas have an aura of faded grandeur, it is an old hotel which must have been quite salubrious in its day. Upstairs is a different matter though. This is sheer neglect - the carpet in our bedroom was heavily stained, the walls were cracked and had damp patches of mould, door frames chipped and the noise from the street below our room (114) was relentless. We'd have slept better in the station! All that for e109 . The owners if this hotel need to invest in a major refurb. It's also a shame that the whole area around the hotel is covered in grafitti. Wouldn't return to either.

Nice hotel, good location, no restaurant Overall: The hotel was an average, with old decor but clean and a very friendly staff Location: Good location, close to Genoa Brignole station. Room: my room was clean and large for a sigle occupancy, but the minibar was not refilled with everything, everyday. Food: offers breakfast, but does not have a restaurant. You have to go out for dinner or order online (which was allowed gor me). Wifi: very good wifi connection. Staff: I had several interaction with people at the reception, and evry single time they were really nice. Very friendly and warm. A good stay!
