Exactly what a hotel experience should be! I travel extensively, yet rarely review. For me, a hotel has to be either exceptional or worthy of a public shaming for me to pull out the keyboard. This hotel was exceptional. Elizabeth was at the helm when I checked in. We had an affable conversation when I was checking in, and through that conversation I learned that she had worked at the property for some time, as she was familiar with much of the history. Longevity of employment at a single property always speaks well of the corporate culture in order to retain long term employees, and that culture was evident throughout the property. From the engaging conversation with the restaurant staff to the impeccable DAILY servicing of the room (a rarity in hotels these days), every aspect of this stay was top notch. Thanks again to Elizabeth who was flexible to some of my unique needs. Well done. I will be back!!

Good for a night. We stayed for one night traveling between Moab and Denver. While bfast isn’t free for everyone, everything else was pretty solid. Room decor is dated but bed, pillows and towels were good quality and comfortable. Pool area was good with a big pool and smallish hot tub. Seems like they run out of pool towels later in the day so you have to ask for them at front desk. All staff was very nice and helpful especially Tanya in the restaurant.

Great Value Close to National Parks My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the Holiday Inn in Grand Junction for our honeymoon. We used it as a base of operations for visiting the surrounding parks in Moab and Montrose as well as points of interest in Grand Junction itself (particularly Colorado National Monument). The hotel is older but has been renovated. The friendly staff upgraded us to a suite with a separate sitting area. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed relaxing at the hotel after long days on the trail. The hotel was very quiet for the most part. We also got snow during our visit; we had no trouble entering or leaving the hotel as the road was cleared quickly. We stayed over Thanksgiving and we were thrilled to be able to have the Thanksgiving dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. While not home cooking, it was helpful and appreciated since so few places were open. The Holiday Inn isn’t the fanciest place to stay, but the location and value are excellent. I’d stay here again and recommend it to others.

Fresh blood on sheets When I first noticed the blood in the middle of the sheets, we thought it might be a washed-in stain. However, I got something to try to wipe it up, and it wiped up. Eww! I immediately went down to the front desk and requested clean sheets. The front desk gal was extremely apologetic and got me all fresh bedding and a clean mattress pad. She even offered to change the sheets, but I thanked her and told her we would change them. She is the reason I gave this hotel a 2 and not a 1 rating. I mean the one thing I count on in any hotel I stay in is that at the very least I will have clean sheets to sleep in. There are a lot of choices for hotels in Grand Junction, so next time I stay I will pick a different hotel.

Dumpy old Holiday Inn I returned for the first time in months as last time I stayed I was assured that the hotel was being sold and a full renovation would be carried out. Nine months later, nothing has changed. What was an extremely tired hotel is now a dump far below the standard expected of a Holiday Inn. The Holiday Inn Grand Junction is now on a par with a dumpy roadside motel. That's unfortunate because staff have always been polite and welcoming. Likewise, the food has always been decent for a Holiday Inn. My first room had a completely worn desk chair, extensively worn and damaged furniture, mold or mildew in the walk-in shower, and hair on the toilet. I was moved to a new room -- a suite. The suite had hair on the carpet, huge amounts of hair on the bathtub, and hair on the in-room telephone. All things considered, this property is far below the acceptable standard for any hotel, let alone a branded hotel in the Holiday Inn chain. It should be deflagged until renovations are completed.
