Pleasantly surprised We stayed in a King Studio Suite. After reading the reviews, I was really nervous and wasn't expecting much. I thought I might have to book elsewhere. But I was pleasantly surprised. Everything looked clean, no carpet in my room. The pillows and bed were super comfortable. I opened a window a little and my partner did complain he heard the traffic all night. I didn't turn the air on until 4am because I was actually cold when I went to bed and turned everything off. Turning the air on this morn- I don't really hear the traffic much. I consider myself pretty particular about where I will stay. If there was a really bad smell or if I felt like it was too dusty... my allergies would act up and I would be miserable. This was not the case here. If I was staying more than 1 night I would absolutely LOVE the kitchenette. It has everything you could need...coffeemaker, toaster, plenty of plates, cups, silverware. There are napkins. There is a kettle on the stove for water. There is a fridge and freezer. There is a dishwasher and microwave. My partner and I said we could live here! And he is right. There is a laundry basket in the closet and ironing board. There is a little tv tray w cupholder to slide up to a chair to eat. There is a desk. My only negative is they could improve the way their lights work. I awoke at 4am and turned the one light nearest the door on and woke up my partner because it lit the whole room. I was just trying to get a glass of water over by the kitchenette. Turned on the garbage disposal first instead lol. Hot water- be careful. The nozzle is a little tricky. My partner was complaining it was too hot and I had to help him out with adjusting the shower nozzle. I didn't have pets but there is a bowl for them in the kitchenette also. Dove products in a pump on the wall for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, then handsoap and lotion in a pump on the wall by the sink. There TV picture isn't the clearest but it IS big and to me it had adequate channels, but my partner was looking for more. He could never find a menu (like TV GUIDE) so he had to flip through channels. There is a channel guide posted above the desk that was very helpful. Parking was adequate when we arrived in the evening at around 6pm. There is a mini convenience center downstairs. Front desk worker was very friendly when we arrived. There was a sign that said be back in 5 minutes there but he immediately came from the back to help us out. That is all I can think of right now but like I said... pleasantly surprised based off previous views so I had to give my input. It's not super duper close to restaurants etc really. It's probably a mile or so down the road to a tropical smoothie cafe and pizza hut on this side of the road. Then gas stations and other restaurants across the street (there is a crosswalk at the light). Hope this review helps someone.

Terrible Customer Service / Business practices I booked Candlewood Suites - Harrisonburg, VA for an event through my job. Circumstances changed and I needed to cancel my reservation. I cancelled 3 weeks prior to my scheduled check in. My credit card was still charged. I called and was reassured I would get a credit within two weeks. Three weeks have passed, and I still have not been credited back what was deducted. Horrible business practices for any company. I use to think Candlewood Suites was a Great Place to stay. I have used stayed there numerous times before. Time to start reserving elsewhere.

Stay elsewhere Hote was under construction. The front lobby area was a mess. There was no clear area to check in. The dude checking me in was wearing a hoody. I wasn't sure who he was?? There was no breakfast. The windows were cracked open. The street was loud. The AC unit was TERRIBLE. It was loud. It went off every few minutes. I had to completely shut it off in the middle of the night in January! The carpet needed to be vacuumed. I needed to check out, and the front desk dude was sleeping in the back somewhere. I had to call the front desk in order to wake him up while I was standing at the front desk!

Find a better place to stay. I will start with the positive. Nice and friendly people at the front desk. Dog friendly, which is why we are here. Now the negative. Floor was sticky, so I wiped it. It was NOT clean. Checked A/C filter. Very dirty so I cleaned it. Broken window screen. Very strong smell of cigarettes permeating the hallway. Not in a nice or walk friendly area. Every step the person takes in the room above is heard. If I was not travelling with my dog and had more time to find a different place I would have left.

Clean pet rooms, would definitely recommend I chose this hotel for their pet rooms, since I was traveling with my cat. I read a lot of mixed reviews, with most having a negative feel about the cleanliness of the carpets so I brought extra blankets to throw down. I thoroughly checked the room (smaller than most suites, but couldn't beat it for a price more reasonable for most single rooms at other hotels), and was pleasantly surprised to see it truly was clean. I was only surprised due to some of the reviews, then remembered that not everyone leaves a review when they're satisfied. Anyway, clean towels, clean room, working stove and microwave. Mildly drippy tub faucet but it wasn't audible. The only time I heard other patrons was when I believe they were unpacking in the suite above mine. I would definitely come back, and bring the cat too! And still bring some of her comforts from home, which just seems logical. (You'll see them on the bed when it's not plain white)
