Acceptable downtown hotel This is a traditional downtown hotel. My room was clean and well appointed, and both the evening and morning desk clerks were extremely helpful. They do have onsite parking but it is $15/day. The breakfast buffet was OK but unexceptional. On a Sunday evening I found the area outside the hotel to feel so unsafe that I ended up having dinner delivered to my room. (The Caribbean restaurant around the corner, highly recommended by the clerk, was unfortunately hosting a private event).

Charged an extra stay-horrible experience This hotel doesn’t care about customer service and their reservations and booking seem to be a mess. I booked through a third party and gave my card for incidentals and was charged for an additional hotel room. They refuse to do anything about it so they really don’t care about customer service. They couldn’t even explain the charges to me correctly, I had to tell them! I asked to speak to the manager but he never came to the phone but used one of his employees to go back and forth on the phone. They said I booked an additional stay/ room when I didn’t. And even if I did, you should be smart enough to see that on your reservations system at check in. They just take your money. Why would I book two hotel rooms when it’s just me? This was a business trip so my work is not happy. The whole hotel smelled like cigarettes, and it’s in a really sketchy area, so if you are a woman traveling alone choose another hotel AWAY. from downtown.

Staffed by very friendly people The reception and welcome we received upon arrival couldn’t have been more friendly. In fact all the staff we met were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is very well located for the State Capitol which is in parkland directly over the road. It is also close to a number of nice restaurants in town and not far away is the Mark Twain residence which we enjoyed very much indeed. Our room was fine, clean quiet and with good A/C and I’d really like to have given the place an additional star, but the fabric of the building is tired and in need of a refresh. Having said that, it was also on the affordable end of the scale and given that we were travelling on a budget, it did us fine

Really? That Ain't Right. Graduation time 4one of the grands! The hubby booked this place &...ugh. Upon arriving, the hubby was hassled about the car parking situation. One is strongly urged to pay way 2much 4parking w/o being told THAT THERE IS FREE PARKING UNDER GROUND!! Really? That ain't right. Be sure 2ask about it right after you're urged to pay. It took us 2-4 attempts w/the key card 2open our door EACH time we went in. One time, we were completely locked out & had 2go 2the front desk to recharge the key. Ugh. Really? That ain't right. Upon entering the room the 1st time, I see a strand of hair on the toilet cover, one on the bed cover & one on a pillow. Really? That ain't right. The floor is 1/2 wood & 1/2 carpet with a jagged ripped look. Really? That ain't right. The shower water took a good 7-10 minutes 2get hot & had a slow drain. Really? That ain't right. The shower area needs tile work, ceiling work & a good scrubbing. There was only one garbage can (in the bathroom) & we had to figure out that the TV wasn't plugged in. Really? That ain't right. The hot water in the bathroom sink would not turn off unless u lined the handle up just right. Really? That ain't right. The towels are large enuf 4a child or a very small adult. Bring your own. Really? That ain't right. The place has 2ice machines but only 1was working. Really? That ain't right. The gym is nice as well as the eating area (breakfast is included), and the business area. If we go back to CT & need a hotel, it will not b this one.

incompetent manager and poor customer service at The Capitol Hotel We booked this hotel because we were attending a family event and it is close by. This was a mistake as there was an event nearby with extremely loud music. At check in, nobody warned us, but after calling the front desk, they told us that it would end at 10:30, and it did. However, there were very loud parties on-going on our floor and a very strong smell of cannabis. We called the front desk and they sent someone. We were told that they cannot cater to only us and that this was a hotel, noise should be expected. The person that came also denied that it was smelling pot. It actually reeked pot. I hate it when someone thinks I am stupid. We will never go back there and would discourage anyone to book room at this place.
