Sorry that it was only for one night Off the grid, private, secluded and beautiful. Enjoyed the waterfall and the bamboo trail. The dinner and wine pairing was delicious. We had to ask Alice the cat to leave our room for the night because my husband is allergic to cats. The couple upstairs happily took him in for the third night in a row! We were unable to take advantage of all that they had to offer in terms of outdoor activities, but we enjoyed the serenity for the one night that we were there.

Private waterfall! Don't miss this place. The grounds and private waterfall are great. We unfortunately had only one weekend night here, so were unable to do the dinner experience. However, the beautiful grounds and swimming in the waterfall pool more than made up for it. A nice breakfast (for covid) and a couple of friendly cats rounded out the stay.

Short stay in Hilo A last-minute trip and booking led us to The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls. What a pleasure we had from the drive into our room and the amazing waterfall just a short hike away. The beauty of this place needs to be experienced first hand. Take out a kayak or stand up paddle or just swim under the falls. If you are as extremely lucky as we were you might be able to have Alice the cat join you in your room during the night. This Inn is top-notch all the way! We only wish we could have stayed longer!

What a gem! Fabulous food and waterfalls! Stunning location, with private access to a most magical water fall, bamboo trail and swimming hole! I stayed in the more rustic, off-gird cabins and they are truly spectacular! Simple, but ultra clean and spacious with a huge lanai looking out over the fields to the sea. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the the chef’s farm to table dining experience is not to be missed. I had to treat myself twice — it was that good! Go for the wine pairing, you will not be disappointed! All around a magical experience. Close to Hilo but you feel worlds away from anything but nature and her song!

A Beautiful Getaway We have visited the Big Island numerous times now and always stay in Waikoloa Village, which is on the other side of the island from Hilo. This time we wanted to allot more time for exploring the Hilo sides . I found the Kulaniapia Falls Inn online and booked a one night stay. The property is absolutely breathtaking. They have a manicured grass trail that loops into beautiful bamboo gardens and to their private waterall. It is rare to find swimmable waterfalls that aren't packed with tourists, so this was such a treat. The Inn provides kayaks, paddleboards, towels, and watershoes to borrow for the waterfall, and even provides many bicycles that you can use to ride around the property. (When going through the bamboo gardens or visiting the waterfall, make sure to wear bug spray! Within minutes I was attacked by mosquitoes.) The room we stayed in was quaint but clean and had everything we needed. There were 3 of us so there was a large bed and a twin-sized futon which was not the comfiest but did the job. I'm not certain if there was air conditioning in our room but the windows stayed open throuhout the night and there was a ceiling fan.The morning buffet breakfast was a nice touch. Since we went during the COVID era, it was a "grab and go" breakfast so most of the options were pre-packaged, but they still had many options for everyone. The outside eating area has a stunning view of the waterfall and greenery- definitely a serene start to the morning. Additionally, the staff was very kind and accomodating. I definitely recommend staying here!
