Wonderful resort I went to Sonesta last year in November with family and loved it so much I can back with friends. I see alot of griping and complaining that nobody "knew about the renovations" but I find that hard to believe. When we were there in November there were signs and pictures everywhere of what the new resort would look like and when I checked their page awhile back it had notices on it as well. I don't know about other people but if I book through something like Expedia or hotels.com I always call the actual resort to check up on any possible changes before I book, that's just being a smart traveler (which it looks like many people who leave reviews are NOT) I had a great time again, I can't talk enough about the new Driftwood Rum Bar and Patio restaurant! Great service as always by friendly people and the only things not open yet when me and my gal pals were there, was the second pool (one was plenty big anyway) and the pool bar, but the did have a pop up temporary bar outside and like I mentioned the Rum bar inside. We absolutely loved the live music too!

Took my family here despite reading some reviews about ongoing renovations and I'm so glad we ignored all the negative Nancy's! (Or should I say Karens) Not sure why people feel the need to complain while they are on vacation at a luxury resort like Sonesta. All the staff were friendly, the pool was zero entry so perfect for my 2-year old grandson and the restaurants had pretty much all you could want from a fancier menu at Sea-Crest to burgers on the patio. I like to people watch when I travel and I just don't understand the complaints, from people at the pool griping about "all the kids in the pool" to people at the bar complaining because THEIR particular favorite cocktail wasn't on the menu. When we were there the only construction left was finishing the adult only pool and finishing the pool bar, but they had a temporary pool bar set up not to mention the bar at the patio and the rum bar. I give Sonesta 5 stars and will be back!

Low quality for the price We stayed for five nights and four days. For the price we paid for this beachfront resort with daily fees included, beach umbrellas and chairs, in addition to bikes, should absolutely be included. Instead, it’s $49 a day for a set of two chairs and one umbrella and $50 for one bike for one hour. The jacuzzi/hot tub by the relaxation pool is the same temperature as the pool itself. The beach is extremely crowded because several vacation rentals in the area all funnel to this one strip of beach. One of the bars by the pool is still under renovation and closed. There was also a faulty smoke detector in the fitness center that caused the hotel fire alarm to trip twice within a 30-minute period, which was extremely disruptive. I ordered food poolside and my fries were cold by the time it got to me. Morning yoga by the beach was lovely and the rooms and bar are nice, but we could have paid the same amount for higher quality elsewhere and we do not plan to return.

Extremely Disappointed – Don’t Be Fooled by Photos We’ve been here for 2 hours and are already extremely disappointed. If you're still within your 5-day cancellation window — **cancel while you can**. This is an outdated resort disguised with a new coat of paint and some "fresh" furniture. The moment we stepped off the 5th floor elevator, we were hit with a strong musty odor — not exactly a welcoming first impression. The photos online are **very deceiving**. You’ll still be charged a full resort fee, yet not all amenities are available or accessible. Want to relax by the pool? Be prepared for **constant drilling and banging** from the construction directly next to the pool deck. There is also trash left around the pool area, which just added to the overall sense of neglect. It completely ruins the experience. Honestly, this feels more like a glorified Hampton Inn than a true resort. The atmosphere, amenities, and overall condition don’t come close to justifying the cost. At this point, we’re seriously considering checking out early and finding a new property to salvage the rest of our trip.

A Perfect Family Getaway Sonesta Resort Hilton Head exceeded expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a beautiful, welcoming atmosphere. The resort is stunning — beautifully landscaped, spotless, and full of charm. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a view of the pool and the ocean. Biking to Coligny was a favorite past time and we loved having easy access to the beach just steps away. The beach itself was clean, relaxing, and never felt overcrowded. We also appreciated the on-site dining options, which offered a great mix of kid-friendly meals and more upscale dishes for the adults. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect, always friendly and ready to help with anything we needed. This was truly one of the best family vacations we’ve ever had, and we’re already talking about when we can return.
