Wonderful stay at a bargain price You certainly don’t expect a five star hotel when you stay at a Comfort Inn, but I’m giving it five stars. Here’s why: The rooms are a decent size, the beds and pillows are plush and comfy, the shower was amazing, and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. While parts of the hotel show its age, the room and hallways are very clean. And all this for well under $100 earns it a five star rating for being much more than we expected.

If you just want to sleep and not shower, this place should work. Arrived about 2 am and was told I got room left. Got my wife and luggage up to the third floor to find a do not disturb sign on the door and the TV blaring. Went back down to the desk and now there is more than one room somehow and they put me in another. The room was ok but the TV picture was terrible. All grainy. Bathroom was not very clean and water pressure was hilariously not existent. There was also another $60 deposit charge on my card I was not told about. I asked about this when I checked out and was told I should get that back in 3 to 5 days. We shall see.

Zero Stars... Stay at your own risk! I was greeted with a sign saying there was NO BREAKFAST but that they would cancel anyone's reservation. But it is Labor Day weekend and no availability anywhere, which they know. This was most likely done on purpose to make more money. The sign says that the room price was reduced to account for no breakfast -- rooms were still $244!! Then it took about 20 minutes for the people ahead of me to get a room. It took another 15 minutes for me to get my room. GOT TO MY ROOM ... MY ROOM ALREADY HAD SOMEONE IN IT -SCARY. I returned to the desk, they said that person should not be there. She went up and 10 minutes came down and said "I gave you the wrong room." 15 more minutes to get a room. Got to the room. The bathroom door would not close it was too big for the frame. And the room smelled like stale smoke. I went to open the window to get some air but there was a van parked right outside the entrance where people decided to have a party and were drinking and smoking cigarettes and blunts. I went to call the front desk but there was no chord for the phone. I called on my cell and the party did move a bit down the parking lot. Turned on the TV and the cable is very limited -- no sports channels, Weather channel, History or CNN etc... Best part of stay was leaving in the morning. Stay at your own risk!

Awful Room Conditions My son and I booked two rooms in this hotel in July 2022. The receptionist Michaela was very friendly and professional and efficient and I commend Comfort Inn for having her as an employee. It is not her fault that this Comfort Inn property in Hobart/Merrillville has rooms in unacceptably horrible condition. It is the fault of the property owner and ultimately of Choice Hotels for allowing this condition. I chose not to burden Michaela with the awful details upon our checkout as I didn't want to ruin her morning. But I do want to warn potential visitors. Room 301: 1. Room smelled of a combination of mold and mildew and urine. 2. Toilet was rocking on its base and seat was loose and askew. 3. Carpet was damp and musty. 4. Beds were so high it took several tries just to get in. Room 312: 1. Smelled musty. 2. Curtain rod had pulled out of ceiling and sat on floor. 3. Bathroom door would not close at all. I would never return or recommend this hotel property.
