Regency Inn Hondo

DO NOT STAY HERE!! The worst hotel I have ever been too. The manager was so rude and invasive. Long story short we ended up calling the cops on him after only being there for 10 minutes. Dude came barging into our room by using the master key after we asked him to leave us alone. There was no latch on our door and he refused to give us a different room and was very adamant that they didn’t have anymore available despite the parking lot being empty. Some how this changed as soon as the cops showed up, and he tried to give us a new room simply because they were there. Should’ve known to not stay since he was rude when we were initially checking in. He mumbled things and then said HELLO? As if he asked me a question. Then I tried to ask for clarification on a fee that I was signing for and he would not explain it. Then tried to insult my intelligence by rudely asking “have you ever even booked a hotel?” His whole demeanor changed when the cops were present, but immediately before they came he was accusing us of damaging the property that was already in very poor shape. I did not feel safe here and would not recommend this hotel to anyone!! Needless to say we did not stay the night.

Surprisingly Nice Stay Car broke down just as we were driving out of Hondo for San Antonio. Was unable to get a tow truck (AAA is going to get a very negative review) and needed to find a hotel. The Regency Inn was the closest hotel, and at first we were a little reluctant seeing as it looks like a typical unbranded roadside hotel. How that reluctance changed immediately after we walked into the lobby. The front desk clerk, Sammy, greeted us with enthusiasm and warmth. He made sure all of our needs for the stay were met, including lending us a couple of charging cubes so we could charge our phones. We found our room (112) to be clean, with typical amenities. Everything in the room worked, television, nice cool AC, and comfortable beds. Room was quiet and isolated from the highway traffic. The rates were half what the next nearest hotel charges. I would definitely recommend the Regency Inn if you need a place to stay while in Hondo.

Dirty and disrepair This is the WORST budget room we have ever had. I almost left, if I wasnt exhausted driving back cross country I would have. Nothing bit me and I did manage 3 hours sleep between trains passing and big Desiel blow outs by the door. Holes in the doors and rotted out shower with electrical tape shower head, trashcan under the sink for the leak, no coffee maker and not sure linens had been changed. The fridge did work but dirty with the last guests leftovers. Got a shower and the bed was dirty from walking bare foot to bed. I've spent less and got more. I pride myself on being a thrifty traveler but this was my worst room ever.

Great Service One of the best stays i have ever had and it is mostly due to the wonderful service of Sammy an employee there. We will be staying here much more often and i will highly recommend this place to all friends and family.

Two more nights Back again, everything good again. TV is DirecTV via Roku now. I believe this works over wifi which does well but our devices seemed to need more signal. Lots of channels available. When I called, the manager was calling me by name before I said my name. He knew our old room number. I think he had some cyber help.
