Sheraton Princess has Really Taken a Post-Marriott Heyday Hit! You can tell that the staff try very hard to provide excellent customer service, but the property is definitely worn and heavily used. And since Sheraton joined the Marriott chain, the service that you get post-Covid has definitely left many things to be desired: room service is really hit and miss, and requests at the front desk - even for a titanium platinum life members – the highest status that Marriott offers, is mediocre at best. By the way, check your breakfast box components very carefully, you’ll find expired milk and other expired foods as part of the package regularly. You’ll pay an exorbitant $38 per night resort fee extra, that really get you nothing (except for towels poolside) and not even the courtesy of recognition as a top-tier Marriott chain earner, as a part of the package. No concierge lounge, and the space is dingy, with each balcony suite featuring its own resident pigeons that will definitely leave marks at their presents on your balcony chairs. For 200+ the resort fee and additional taxes per night, it would make much more sense to use a local Airbnb or booking.com property instead. I really do think that post-Covid, hotels are trying to do their best, but they’ve cut too many corners to make it worthwhile for top Marriott earners, and everyone else for that matter.

Nice views // better than expected Stayed one night prior to leaving Honolulu. Stayed the previous 6 nights at the Courtyard on Kuhio. I will return to this Sheraton in the future. The location best serves my interests. It is centrally located, across the street from the Moana and within a block of the International Market Place. Surfboard Alley is across the street and down half a block and the police station is about the same in the opposite direction, so beach access is right across the street. Though this hotel is not ocean front, from the 21st floor, the view was gorgeous and the ocean seemed to be right there, in front of you. (Early in July I stayed at the Westin Hapuna Beach- that property is ocean front but the walk to the ocean seemed farther than the walk to the ocean from the Sheraton Princess.) Other reviews talked about this property being dated. I did not feel like it was. Ya, there are somethings that seem a dated in an architecture way (elevators), not in an “OMG this bed is from 1976” way. The beds were very comfortable. The room was clean, comfortable; it did not feel well warn by party goers. I will stay here again and am looking forward to doing so. Where you stay in any city significantly influences your entry and experience in that city. The Sheraton Princess is a great starting point for enjoying Waikiki. Additionally the hotel was well staffed and all of my interactions with staff were great.

Moderately priced, nice staff Great location, in the heart of Waikiki, close to beach and top restaurants. Moderately priced, but you get what you pay for - one restaurant on property with short hours, limited menu; small rooms; no express elevators (20-30 minute wait and several stops each ride); small pool (they ran out of towels one day at 9:30am!); amenities were lacking (no hair conditioner). Hotel was also in need of an upgrade: carpet, walls seemed dingy; rooms did not have USB ports. Besides location, the other highlight was the staff - warm, helpful, friendly, and hard working. I'd stay here and take the money that is saved to buy activities and some good meals!

Do not stay here! The place is super packed. The elevator takes 20-30 min to go up or down from where you are. The do not enforce masks in public areas. We were not comfortable with our 1 year old being in an elevator with unmasked people. One of the staff told our party and the party behind us to take the service elevator since there was a line to go to our rooms. Very unhappy since it should’ve been one party at a time. The unmasked party behind us was very anti mask and was talking about how they don’t care and refuse to wear a mask when confronted. Also it is very noisy even on the higher floors. Just avoid this place by all means.

Moderately Priced Waikiki Hotel I have stayed at this property a few times. It is located close to the beach on a major street lined with numerous shopping and dining choices. It is across the street from another Marriott property, the Westin Moana Surfrider, which has direct beach access but which is a more expensive property. Also nearby are two other Marriott properties: the Royal Hawaiian (the quinesstial luxury property in Waikiki), and the Sheraton Waikiki (the party hotel not recommended for people who enjoy a good night's sleep). The Princess is the most reasonable in price of these hotels and it has its ups and downs. Each time I have stayed here, I have been offered a view of Diamond Head (although twice I have changed my room- the first time because of a malfunctioning AC unit- and ended up with a city and partial ocean view instead- no big deal). During my last stay on the first night, I was forced at 11 pm to ask for a room change after listening to the young people in the room next door to me yelling at each other (I could hear every word they were saying through the locked connecting door) and it was clear that I would be getting no sleep if I stayed in my assigned room. Fortunately, the gentleman at the front desk was able to find us a quiet room on the 26th floor (this seems to be the quietest floor). It should be noted that due to street performers, you will be listening to quite a bit of noise until around 11 pm but this is not Sheraton's fault, it is a nightly issue in this area. There is a bar next to the pool which serves food as well. Some guests were picking up boxes in the morning which might have been a continental breakfast- ask the hotel before booking if this interests you. The wonderful buffet which doubled in the evenings as an elegant dining option is sadly gone. However, there are numerous eateries nearby as well as the ever-present ABC stores, so you won't go hungry. This hotel is a good choice for travelers on a budget. Hawaii is expensive and many of the hotels in Waikiki are more costly than the Princess. Just know that this is an older property and not a luxury hotel. It has a pool, singers who perform in the pool area in the evening, and has a great location near everything. Covid note: the hotel posted signs asking guests to limit occupancy to four people per elevator, however, guests ignored this and crammed onto the elevators- some without masks (which the hotel also asked you to wear but some guests ignored). Since the elevators are slow - and sometimes broken- expect a long wait to board one. A special note to Platinum Marriott members: do not use your suite points at this hotel. I was told that all of the rooms are the same and most have the connecting door feature, so the "suite upgrade" at this property is an upper floor room with a view of Diamond Head which, btw, I have been assigned every time that I stayed here whether using suite points or not.
