Not the same as it used to be. We stayed here in 2009 and were returning to the area again, was expecting a full bar and restaurant. Website said breakfast not being served, but nothing about no bar or restaurant. When we arrived nobody there, had to call a phone number. Looked around saw that the grass hadn't been mowed in a few weeks, paint peeling off the outside shingles, overgrowth hanging from the gutters...Carpets looked like they hadn't been cleaned since we were there in 2009. Totally changed. Yes, I was aware of their cancellation policy and being charged, however not having any person to person contact and the way the place looked and not having the restaurant and bar (which was not advertised in their website, only the breakfast notice) we decided to look elsewhere...a few days later my CC was charged for the full amount of the cancelled stay. So I don't recommend this once charming inn as a nice place to stay.

Bates Motel The name placard outside of this run-down dilapidated building should read "Bates Motel". My husband and I booked a room for a family event, upon arrival we both thought the GPS directions were pranking us. The paint was peeling, the grass was overgrown, the porch was filled with a variety of garage sale items. The parking lot was pitted and unsafe. We went inside and went to the "front desk", a table with an old curtain wrapped around it. The staff person was really untrained for accepting guests, and frankly he was a little, ok a lot creepy. He gave us a key and showed us to our room. The room, bathroom and chairs were not dirty, they were filthy. Fortunately, we were dressed for the event and not in need of a shower. During the car ride back we spoke as to whether or not we could actually sleep there. 9:30 at night, we were going to try. We met another couple outside who said they were in the same situation however their drive was 7 hours versus 2.5 for us. Walking back into the building we were met by terrible retching from a nearby room, and the staff person started following us around.......very uncomfortable. We decided to get our things and leave. We are grateful we did. I will be asking for a full refund and reporting this establishment to the consumer protection agency in New Hampshire. Something is definitely wrong with the Bates Motel.

Wish I had nice things to say I'm sorry to say that this Inn was a disappointment. It is in need of much renovation or at least cleaning and the rooms are beat up. Our room looked like no one had cleaned under the bed for months, litter and dust all over the floor under the bed, the bureau drawers of the old bureau hadn't been emptied out and I found an unused adult diaper in one drawer. The stairway rugs are dirty. I must have missed the section of the advertisement stating that they no longer do breakfast we had to make alternate plans for that. Just overall, the Inn is in need of some major TLC.

Second worst accommodation of a long life! I feel sorry for the older proprietors since they have so many maintenance problems to contend with inside and outside. Apparently this was once a lovely b&b but no longer has food and barely any service. We had a check-in experience from hell due to no staff and a locked room. The room had no shades and was barely acceptable, apart from the renovated bathroom. I shall say no more.
