Heavenly Hawai’i Honeymoon We absolutely loved our stay! The hotel staff was so friendly and they were always around to assist with our needs. The owner or manager was consistently checking in with us. The ocean view was magical & the pool truly made you feel like you were in paradise. They also offered free bike rentals and there is an oceanfront trail that runs parallel to the hotel. 10/10 stay!

Good Stay We had a good stay at Hotel Coral Reef. The location is great. Right on the ocean. We loved that there were complimentary bikes and that the multi-use (bike) path went right thru the property making it easy to take off and return. The path is GREAT - a must do. Easy walking distance to many restaurants, and that was great as we did not have a car. The room is showing its age (built in 1956, but refurbished at some point) and could use a new coat of paint and a deep cleaning. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. They allowed us an extra hour for check-out and held our luggage till we could get our rental car.

No frills but beachfront access was nice This place saved us from the abomination of an accommodation right next door called the Kauai Beach House/Hostel. We enjoyed it enough to spend another two nights when we came back to Kapaa. No frills but excellent location for walking into town to eat and explore. Beachfront with sliding glass door/porch. Super helpful and knowledgeable front desk staff with recommendations of what to do in the area. And enjoyed the Hawai’i local DVD collection - we chose the Riding Giants documentary about big wave surfing and Laird Hamilton.

Think twice! 2 stars. 1 for near water, 2nd for famIly managing are very welcoming. The rest is all not good. Apparently renovated within I believe last 20 years. Well its time for a gut and rebuild. The dust, filthy carpet and bathroom floor edges, window sills are disgusting. Don't be lured in by low price. We had lots of plans so literally only showered and slept then left. The pool was clean which was a pleasant surprise. But pool furniture needs updating. This area of Kapaa has significant homeless population that frequent nearest public bathrooms. They are beachside, up and down the beautiful county walkway along the shoreline, and parked living in vehicles and tents just few blocks from hotel on the street out to local business's. So if walking that's what you are met with.

GROSS DISGUSTING. STINKS. Room stinks like mold. Couch and carpet are stained. Box spring has no linens. AWFUL. I have no idea how this place has average score so high. It’s absolutely awful, even for just one night. Really sad. It’s also not cheap.
