Very friendly but building could use a touch of TLC. Checked in late on a Friday night and checked out on Sunday morning. The location was perfect for attending the KU weekend rugby tournament. About a mile and a half from the Westwick Rugby Complex. Although the room such as bedding and furniture was clean there was a faint musty oder upon entering the room. After the AC got pumping it went away. The TV was absolutely awful. The remote control did not work even after getting new batteries from front desk. Not a huge deal but frustrating nonetheless. The parking lot entrance has a pothole that is horrible and should be fixed right away. I’d be surprised if there hasn’t already been numerous cars damaged or at least complaints about it. Again the staff was super friendly and I would have no problem staying again especially if these minor issues are addressed.

Pool cold hot tub extremely Luke warm Pool cold and hot tub NOT hot at all. It ruined our family’s fun. There was ice cold Water being pushed into the hot tub even from a big jet at bottom of hot tub. Originally in calling the nice lady who answered phone had led us to believe the hot tub was hot and running. It appeared she just didn’t know. The stay was a dud

Lovely Place We have stayed here several times. Quiet hotel. Very clean. We had a larger room. Nice to have 2 TVs and a couch to cuddle on. Pool felt cold to us, but it was outside. The front desk attendant was very nice, gave us extra towels. Considered doing our Anniversary party here but then we got sick. Beautiful conference area.

Shockingly outstanding I have to admit we only stay at a few Holiday Inns each year, and I always find them “adequate.” This one was just great. The location is easy- right off the highway and very close to KU, and tons of shopping and food. The second we walked in we were greeted with a blast of cold air. There is nothing hotter than Kansas in the summer. It was such a relief after a huge baseball weekend to be able to go into the lobby in our room and truly cool off. Friendly staff. The housekeeping was as needed but totally sufficient and exactly what we requested. The room had every amenity we needed including a small fridge and microwave. The beds were comfortable and everything was quiet. I appreciate the extra detail the hotel took to let us know that even though we were there for a baseball tournament, and we were more than welcome, there was going to be a point in the evening when things would need to quiet down. As a sports parent you probably have been to the hotels that party all night with the rowdy teams – this one was welcoming but also knew how to shut things down. I appreciated that. Breakfast was just fine – I think the “make your own pancake” station was a hit for many- we just relied on yogurt and muffins. I’d love it if they get another washing machine and dryer, as there is only one for the property, but there is a coin laundromat less than a block away and a credit card laundromat five minutes away by car.

Find other accommodations Holiday inn Express Lawrence,  KS My husband,  daughter  and I decided to stay at this hotel because  my husband has stayed at several other HIE hotels  on business in other cities  and liked them. Not so here. In fact, it was truly awful.  We booked a week here. Not a brief visit. We arrived late on a Friday night and had conveyed we'd be late due to a long drive. When I went to check in about 9:30pm a male, Asian front desk clerk said 'oh good. You're the last one I'm waiting for.'  OK ... we got our keys and went up to our Room 202. Immediately noticed a strong, stale, moldy mildew smell. The bathroom had wallpaper peeling off and a lot of mold in the shower crevices. The next morning, we went down to the grab and go breakfast. If you enjoy high sugar,  prepackaged gas station food...this one's for you.  I asked if there were any hard boiled eggs.  No. Coffee had no nondairy creamer and tasted like dirty water. We told the front desk  girl about the smell in our room and also requested additional towels.   When we used the keurig in our room, it was no better than the lobby coffee.  Headed to  IHOP disappointed. Upon returning that evening,  the smell in the room was no better. We ran the air conditioner  24/7. No extra towels....but there were dirty, wet ones in the wardrobe from the previous person. Gross. By the third morning, my husband and I were feeling terrible. Headaches,  congestion, generally  awful. That morning, we told the front desk they needed to resolve the smell and, by the way, still no extra towels and trash is overflowing.  That evening, we could tell something had been sprayed to cover the odor but the problem was not solved. My husband  went down to the front desk to  insist on a new room while my daughter and I packed up our stuff...including  the towels and wash cloths we finally got the  previous evening. Still trash and wet towels in the room. We moved to Room 224. Thankfully,  this room had no smell and was in good condition.  It is apparent that housekeeping and  maintenance  staff desperately need training. Our second room was never turned either. We saw the manager on 3 separate occasions,  including checkout,  and were never asked how our stay was. We noticed he was in his office and wondered how it's possible to manage a hotel from behind a desk? Hopefully,  the corporate owner and/or Holiday  Inn will realize this facility  requires desperate help so other customers will not be subjected to these issues in the future.
