Highly recommend this property!!!! This place is too cute! Beautiful grounds including: hens, llamas, gardens, etc. Staff was really nice and the homemade breakfast was delivered to the room daily and delicious (with fresh egg dishes from the on site hens)! Property has On site hiking paths and trails and is super close to both downtown Mendocino, van damme state park, Russian gulch state park, etc. Rooms were very spacious and we highly recommend!

Stunning view of ocean We stayed for one night at Etta's suite. The views are gorgeous. The bed is comfortable. The furnishings are spare but calming. The breakfast (three items rather than three courses) was great. That said, the sound of the road can be loud in this room - which cannot be helped of course. The room itself is a bit worn - cracked ceiling, the carpets are old and worn (and could be brightened with some nice rugs), and the sofa is stained (not nice) - these things would make me not stay in this room again. For this price point, we also didn't really want to go to the outside kitchenette for a cup of tea - there ought to be a mini fridge, a good coffee maker and kettle in the room: that's standard, and necessary for this price. Also, a room temperature bottle of wine (which we cooled) is not the warmest welcome; put the wine in a bucket of ice in the room! And maybe with a little snack to welcome your guests at the exorbitant price that they're paying! This could be a much better experience. But the location is just superb. Also, inexplicably, there is a policy for a two night stay, but no provision to do it in separate rooms if one is willing to spend the cleaning period 11-3 out.. that's a bit strange, I must say.

Great place for a relaxing getaway We spent three nights here while visiting Mendocino and neighboring areas, and had an absolutely terrific time. The room (Bayloft) was beautiful and very large, with a view of the ocean. Breakfast delivered in a basket every morning was a real treat. Well located, with access to the beach down a trail from across the road. For the more adventurous, you can even hike into Van Damme State Park directly from the property. Would absolutely stay here again if we were in the area.

Serene retreat! During a West Coast road trip, my husband and I spent a night in Room 201 of the modern Glendeven Lodge. Our stay was wonderful and very peaceful. We loved getting to explore the grounds, to include feeding the chickens & visiting the llamas. And, the provided breakfast was delicious! I still think fondly of the lemon poppyseed muffin that came with breakfast. We would happily stay here again if in the area.

An honest account of our bad experience. It is uncomfortable for me to write a negative review like this, but I can’t imagine we’re the only people who’ve had such a horrible experience. We chose to stay at Glendeven because of the phenomenal TripAdvisor reviews and were looking forward to it. A week before our stay, I emailed the Inn to request staying an extra night. Although rooms were available, we were told we had to stay TWO more nights, and could not stay just one additional night. I responded kindly, but stating my disappointment with how unwilling they were to be accommodating. We felt unwelcome before we’d even arrived. They replied, without acknowledging my email, to say a different room was now available for the 3 nights if we wanted to change, and I gladly accepted. No pricing was discussed in the email, and can’t be found online, either. I had assumed a rate increase, but did not expect $100/ night more. I think a reservation change that costs a guest 70% more overall should be communicated clearly (or at least just communicated). Feeling taken for a ride, my partner called to discuss the situation, leaving a message with the front desk. Four minutes later we got an email canceling our entire stay. Later that day my partner got a call from John, the owner. He was “just calling to make sure we received the cancellation notice”, also mentioning we wouldn’t have been a good fit for them. We are respectful and thoughtful people and hope to be treated likewise. It’s now 24 hours before we are supposed to be in Mendocino and finding a new accommodation in the area is most likely impossible.
