Not a great experience The door was ajar when I arrived at my room, stains on the walls, bed looked like someone had been sleeping on it, smelled like smoke, phone was inoperable and not connected to a phone jack, the heater didn't work, the smoke alarm was broken and dangling from the ceiling. A previous reviewer suggested lowering expectations. I suggest the hotel change their rating to a 1-star hotel. Not at all safe. Its not that much work to fix up the rooms so that they are presentable and safe. The motel owners appear not to care about the appearance and comfort of the rooms. There's no excuse for this level of disrepair - hard-scrabble town or not.

Read reviews carefully - which ones are actually legitimate? Don't you love how every review in the last 3 years is either a 1 star or 5 star, and almost everyone is written by a reviewer who's only submitted ONE review? LoL. Red flag much? Look folks, it's another hard-scrabble agricultural town in California, mmm K? This is not "wine country". This is Salinas, Santa Paula, Merced, Watsonville, etc. Yes, the employees running the hotel are friendly but Lompoc is a high-crime, dirt-poor town. So be prepared for the usual antics...homeless going through the trash, idiot wanna-be gang bangers partying in the rooms, and on and on. Because hotel prices have sky-rocketed everywhere in California, the owner is able to get away with charging $100 or even $120 for a what is essentially a flop-house room, disgusting dirty with broken-in doors and vandalized everything. Yes it's survivable for one night but I would never ever have family or children of any age stay here. Simply not safe. The owner needs to learn that if he chooses to allow trash to stay here, then he won't ever get better clientele. Perhaps he's already learned -- and this is just the way he wants to run the place.

Perfect Yet Affordable Stay! This was a perfect Hotel for us to stay who travelled all the way from East Coast to West to Witness the Rocket Launch! I usually hesitate to go to Motels like Red Roof Inns or Some other Inns, but this Red Roof Inn at Lompoc, changed my opinion completely as I could not get to reserve a hotel in advance due to my unplanned trip to CA. This hotel is very close to Vandenberg AFB Space Launch where most of the spaceship launches happen. Its also very conveniently located around groceries, pharmacy and restaurants! More than anything, the Hospitality of the Smiling and Courteous Staff, Non Smoking Clean Rooms with Perfect AC, Clean Mattress and Floor looked as if this Hotel is newly renovated. Staff also helped me to fetch few pops from the Vending machine when I did not have cash! The most inexpensive, clean, courteous and a perfect Hotel to Stay! I will be visiting this place again!

My final lesson in "You Get What You Pay For" We just needed a place to sleep for a for a few hours before leaving at 4:30 am to watch a SpaceX launch. I knew I was paying for one of the least expensive places in town, but we weren't needing amenities as we weren't even planning on taking a shower. We literally just needed a place to sleep. I booked this place because it was on Ocean Ave. where we would be watching the launch. This place was so bad that we ended up leaving at midnight to sleep in our car instead. The room next door had people knocking on the door every 30 minutes or so, and then the dog in that room would bark, and then our dog would bark. This went on next door from the moment we checked in at 6pm until we left at midnight. This despite the fact that the "Do Not Disturb" sign was on the door. Probably had something to do with the sign in the window of the room that said, "What happens in this room stays in this ROOM". My guess is that she was either selling drugs or turning tricks. Either way, we didn't even want to take chances on a room change because the whole clientele was pretty seedy. There was good evidence that people were probably living at the hotel instead of just passing through because some of the front door stoops had decorations or outdoor ash trays. Never again will I book the least expensive place when we just need a place to sleep for a few hours. If I could give this place a zero or negative number, I would.

Beware… over priced and gross! They charged my credit card before checking in. Upon arriving in the room I noticed a blood stain on the pillow. The front desk said they would bring us new pillows and they never did. I had to go to the front desk to get this taken care of. We then tried to use the microwave and noticed other peoples food inside. Unacceptable and gross! I’m not sure they even cleaned this room. It was Labor Day weekend and over priced. I would recommend any other hotel!
