Perfect Lunch We were at the hotel for a gifted Group On for Sunday Lunch. The food was delicious and the service from all the girls who's names I was unaware of was superb. Nothing was too much trouble and attention to detail excellent. We only used the restaurant but it was a wonderful experience in outstanding surroundings. Given the chance we will happily return again.

Nice Manor Style House, lacking in the basics. On first appearance it’s a lovely looking hotel. Nice from the outside and the reception and bar/restaurant area look good and tastefully done. Plenty of parking available as well. After staying a few days you notice the issues. Cleaning is an issue, basics appear to be done but it needs a deep clean and a maintenance program in place to sort out the issues. We were staying in a suite and on first impressions it’s great. However ….. Lots of low level dust on chairs etc not been cleaned for a while. Carpets not vacuumed during our stay. Windows not cleaned inside (messages for previous (wedding) guests written on the windows, only show up when it’s steamy). Kettle - paint spots on top of it, cmon just change the kettle or simply cover it before painting. Cornice - needs a touch up. Bathroom, decent shower and bath facilities. Paint spots again on the tiles and fixtures. Windows don’t open but there is a fan provided. All the things you’d expect were there and Nice to have a fridge in the room as well. Good Storage space with wardrobe etc. Towels and Bathrobes were all ok, good size and replaced when required. Bed was massive and really comfortable. Downside of staying in a suite… the awful easy listening music blaring out of the speakers in reception from what feels like 6am to 1am. Just get rid of it or at least have some consideration for the guests in the suites who can hear it all the time and have it on a reasonable hours not when people are sleeping or trying to sleep. Reception area has a quite a grand entrance but this is spoiled by loose tiles from the mosaic floor should be an easy fix and something that should be done as part of H&S. We did eat in the Restaurant, it’s a limited menu and nothing exciting about it. Chips were good, rest of it was ok. Better places to eat around so best to head out and explore instead of eating here. Drinks were expensive as well so just wander off and find a pub. I’m 50/50 on going back, the location was good and it’s not a bad place to base yourself for the Peak District but the cleaning and maintenance issues put me off. I wouldn’t recommend it as it currently is, it needs a lot of tidying up first and fixing. It’s average but could be so much better.

Lunch Treat We used a Groupon Voucher from our family. First appearances the dining room looked nice especially the small area with the tables for 2 and the white tablecloths which always make a difference for us. We were entitle to 1 course and a glass of wine each. The roast beef dinner was lovely and the house red wine was very good. I think charging an extra £3.50 supplement for the beef pp is a bit much. The size of the dinner is enough but it's not worth another £7. We ordered cake and 2 flat whites. We were given 2 lattes which we sent back. The 2 flat whites we did receive were luke warm and not strong enough. We think they poured the lattes into a different cup_‍♀️. On the whole it was a pleasant meal and the staff were lovely. The hotel itself is quite old and looks like it has a history to it. I would think it needs a refurbishment.

Disappointing...... Before booking we checked no weddings ...hoping for a quiet night. There's a prom night ...it transpires ... Right OK.. The hotel on arrival told us the event would be finished at 11pm ....they closed the resident bar at 10 .10 ....supposedly the staff clearing up ! . We asked specifically what was happening we were told no license after 11pm all over the prom event ..... it wasn't. 11.30 pm ! ....and I think only because we complained. Staff just chatting and standing around waiting ..... Young staff no leadership . No management to answer anything . At the time .... We very rarely have a weekend off to come away ...so it would have been nice to have a few drinks ...relax and chat. It's not what we were told ....residents treated as second class citizens ... Had no where to go only to listen to the pounding music we were given a room right next to the music too Not great at all ! Staff weren't to blame management lied. Big disappointment..
