Hyatt Place Boston/Medford

Mildew smell in room was awful The room had a mildew and mold smell that didn’t go away. It made our clothes smell. The carpets looked like the bathroom had flooded and had stains all over. The room was too close to the kitchen and we were woken up by dishes being tossed into bins. The sink was outside the bathroom which was just weird.

Go anywhere else for the same money There must be some type of inside joke that I am not privy to because my coworkers burst out laughing when I said I stayed at the Hyatt in Medford. They told their own stories, from 5-15 years ago, of how everyone goes there to smoke and party after being snuck in through the other entrances. I will admit that this Hyatt is at least consistent if nothing else because my bathroom and room reeked of actively burning marijuana that was permeating through the vents from nearby guests. I reported this to the front desk and they did absolutely nothing about it. We were not offered a different room in a different area and they did not even bother to send someone up to investigate. I have nothing against marijuana, but just please do it somewhere that is not a semi shared space. In addition to the smell, the bed is inconveniently placed immediately next to the air conditioner that blows directly onto the bed. If you are the type who gets warm easily while sleeping, then the air conditioner will certainly wake you up when it starts oppressing you randomly throughout the night. There are no drink or ice machines on any of the floors. They only have a bar which is also apparently part of their front desk. Their front desk attendant was quick to shut down my concerns and automatically went on the defensive instead of simply listening to the concerns before responding. I am not surprised that the staff was like this based on all other aspects of the stay. My favorite part about this experience was when I did not have to interact with anyone or anything other than the Hyatt app. It is damning when the best part of your stay is using the app.

A very comfortable stay Hyatt Place is very well located, the rooms are very spacious and have an excellent layout. Gym and Swimming Pool have been recently renovated and pretty nicely done. Lots of eating places accessible nearby. It was extremely useful to have a Laundry room within the Hotel.

Average The stay is an average experience overall. The front desk is overwhelmed with people checking in . The breakfast is also crowded all the time. The rooms are neat although a bit old. The worst part is the air conditioning unit which was making a lot of noise and I was unable to sleep

Kaos Elevator were not readily available in morning due to staff use, breakfast was short on food or was not replenish quick enough, seating at breakfast was hard. Overall disappointment for a Hyatt property.
