Helen to the rescue! Only because of Helen, and she would be rated a five! She went above and beyond her duty, same goes for the gentleman whose name escapes me, but he is studying to become an arborist and his father is a veteran. Both the air conditioning and the elevator in the lobby were inoperable .Old hotel that seriously needs sprucing up: repairing & repainting rooms, updating linens (which were stained) . Returned later and had great customer service but the elevator and a/c in the lobby still had not been repaired - six weeks later ! I will stay there again in October, but only because of Helen & team.

Awful hotel! Stained bedspreads, dirty washcloth by sink, used bar of soap in bathtub, a black something on counter, only given 2 small leftover rolls of toilet paper, at 8:30 requested via front desk phone (no one around) for another roll. Delivered at 10:50. Room not ready for check-in when we arrived at 4 to come back in half hour. Girl at desk alone so had to kinda clean room, no ice in machine. Floors sticky. I could go on. We’re seniors and worst hotel experience ever!

Took a chance and second time here was as disappointing as the first which was several years ago. I had a bad experience here before but the roads were icy and slippery so I thought I’d give it another chance. WRONG CHOICE! Tom Bodette did leave the light on and it was staffed at least when I arrived. Room 214 was my room, door was open upon getting to the room. Door handle and security latch were broken, however the deadbolt did work. About 3:30am, a domestic argument starts up in the hallway and continues for hours. Since I was in the State of Death near the city of death called Chicago I did not leave the room or attempt to stop it. I guess 4 hours of sleep is pretty good at a Motel 6. Leaving at about 6am, no staff. Maybe thats why the domestic wasn’t addressed. Coffee in the lobby was ice cold. I won’t be staying here again. I will drive to Bloomington/Normal and pay more to stay in a safe, secure, and more accommodating hotel. Oh, and the bed had a thin sheet and thin comforter, bed was comfy, bedding sucked.

Just a place to lay your head for a night Overall: Price was good for a midweek one night stay. Extremely convenient for our reason to stay. Basic room included 2 beds and TV - no chair, etc. Motel phone did not work. Details: Lobby and rooms were dirty. All rooms smelled like cigarette smoke. But the hotel was a non-smoking motel. Started in one room but the TV wouldn't work. We found the door open, window unlocked, and the AC blasting. Two people tried to fix the TV - both just used their master key and walked right in without knocking. Room was fairly clean except the bedspread, table, and phone. They tried to fix it - but ended up changing rooms. That room was unclean - floor, a towel, and sheets were dirty. Floor had dead bugs (at least they were dead) and floor was sticky. That room smelled liked cigarette smoke. Second room did have a fridge and microwave. Found leftover food under the microwave. Wi-fi was spotty or no connection. Room was quiet. Many people waited over 10min to be served in the lobby at check-in. (While we waited to talk about the TV.) Ended up not showering due to strong well water smell. (My hair would smell like well water.) One person was very polite, nice, and apologetic. The other lacked personality or communication skills to be in hospitality with people.

Safer to sleep in your car :D BUYER BEWARE: Where do I start with this motel? To sum it up in a few words: DO NOT STAY HERE. This place is one of the most disgusting motels I have ever stayed in. Until this stay, I had never had a problem with Motel 6. I will never be staying at one again. I had to wait a couple of months to post this because these motel operators lied to my bank when I did a charge-back for the room I didn’t use. Took a while to get that sorted out. Read this review at your own leisure, and/or if you want some good quality entertainment. 1) No one was at the desk when we arrived. We had to call to have someone let us into the motel. Took at least 5 min just to get someone up there. Who came up there proved to be a total nightmare. 2) Almost immediately upon check-in, the fire alarms started going off, and smoke filled the motel. Unfortunately for me I was right across from the owners’ quarters (because that was the origin of the smoke) and got the brunt of the smell and it left a less than ideal haze of smoke in the less than 1 hour I was actually in my ‘room’. 3) I came into the room and the smoke detector was next to the sink, with the battery out. Lol. Fire alarms going off in this place must be a trend. I was too tired to do anything about it, so I just left it there. Not that I wanted to do this, because it was nighttime, but I would’ve been unable to open my window blinds because the nice stick you use to open them was also detached and sitting on the floor next to the bed. 4) Here is the most fun part of this ordeal. Within 15 minutes I got myself and my cat settled in (woe is me that Motel 6 is one of the only places that also accepts pets), and when I went to wash my hands (as it seems no one had done in this room in quite some time) found that the sink wouldn’t drain. I did not know why, but I knew that I wanted it to drain. So, I called the manager (see: Jaya Patel). Immediately upon answering the phone (surprised she even did that), she proceeded to ask me ‘what I had put down the sink.’ I told her I had been there for a mere few minutes and had not put anything down the sink. She said she would be there in a few minutes to get the sink unclogged. She and who I presume to be her husband, came into my room to figure out what the problem was. After a few minutes of failed snaking, they had to take the pipes under the sink apart. Stinky pipe water spewed out and went all over the floor, and a bucket they decided to bring in after. Mr. Motel 6 found a small white object (that looked to be plastic) lodged in the pipes. Trying to keep myself from full on vomiting in the Motel (I’m sure they would’ve charged me for this, too), I asked lovely Ms. Jaya if she could put me into a new (same cost) room. She said no, there weren’t any available. I smell some stinky BS. There were only ~5 cars in the lot at the time, and the motel has at least 30 rooms. She said she can only put me in a more expensive room. I told her that I just wanted a room for the same price I paid for my current room, and that I didn’t think it was right that she was trying to charge me more to put me in a room with a functioning sink. She still said no, so I asked for a refund. She again, said no. I told her and Mr. Motel 6 (after he started yelling at me) that I felt uncomfortable and so I left. 5) Trying to initiate a bank charge back was also a complete nightmare that took 2 months because they straight up lied to my bank. I tried to work this out with Motel 6, but apparently incompetency and rudeness is top down at this company. After I had laid out all of my allegations, they lied and said that I had put something down the sink (I had not), and that I wanted my room for free (I did not. I just didn’t want to pay more for a new room). Luckily all worked out in the end. 6) Don’t believe any reviews coming from Kanti Patel. He owns the joint and is probably trying to skew the ratings. 7) I sincerely hope you enjoyed reading this. As I have enjoyed reading all of the other reviews of this awful, god-forsaken motel.
