Deplorable and Filthy My family and I traveled to Monroeville Alabama for a family reunion. Unfortunately, no other lodging options were available except for Mockingbird Inn & Suites. Much to my disappointment, this room reeked of a musty smell and odor and the furniture and bedding are all old and outdated. The bath towels and wash clothes were stained and appeared dirty although washed (see pic). The toilet suffered from a lack of waterpower which was mentioned to the hotel attendant earlier this morning and this issue has yet to be corrected. Next, upon arrival back to our room, the hotel key card stopped working and we were unable to enter the enter the room. I addressed this issue with another attendant, and she reset the key card; but this did not correct the issue. I was forced to seek assistance from her once again and she accompanied me to the room. Despite her efforts, the door would not open. She contacted maintenance who instructed her to dismantle the lock and use a regular key to open the door. Upon doing this, the door opened. Per the attendant, maintenance is not on site today and she is uncertain as to when the lock can be fixed because it is more than likely an issue with the battery power. As the guest, I am now forced to seek an attendant each time I need to enter my room b/c the key card will not work. It's now late in the evening and I have returned yet again from another family function. I inquired with another attendant (different that the 1st and 2nd one) who was asked if she had knowledge as to when the toilet may be repaired or if/when maintenance would be on site. She checked her records and to my surprise, neither attendant logged any issues reported by me earlier. I inquired with this attendant as to the owner of this dump (b/c literally it is a dump and deplorable) and she communicated she was not allowed to provide that information. I then requested as to the name of the manager and she replied, "Julie." She then proceeds to tell me how nice this hotel is, and I informed her, this hotel is not nice but that of deplorable and she should take a look at the reviews. Better yet, the filth alone b/c these rooms are not being cleaned at all. I am beyond livid with this hotel and the staff who seem incompetent to say the least. This hotel should not charge anyone to stay at this place given the condition and shape it is currently in. I feel my family and I deserve a refund for the agony and deplorable conditions of our rooms, to include, funds spent at Wal-Mart . We purchased towels, washcloths, and bedding because of the filth and nastiest of our rooms. (Please review pictures attached of how they fail to clean these rooms). What is even more insulting is the fact the one of the attendants shared with me that this hotel, Mockingbird Inn & Suites and Best Western (which is directly next door) are both owned by the same company. Best Western seems newly built. Instead of investing in this dump for decent lodging standards you'd rather built something new but then continue to promote this deplorable place.

Disappointed in Breakfast. Clean room The room was nice and clean. The mattress was ok, the sheets were clean but knobby with lint. The free breakfast was terrible. A few hard sweet rolls, toast, was it. The flavored coffee creamer curdled my coffee. There were packets you could make yourself grits Or oatmeal. The price was very reasonable, the room was nice so I would stay again. If I stayed here again I would do a drive through for breakfast.

Worst Day Ever My home was ravaged by hurricane Zeta. My town and myself included are currently left without power. I made a reservation from 30 October until November 7th. I stayed the first night, no issues. The next night, I walked up to my room to notice From the window that there was someone lying in bed watching tv. The hotel had given my room away because I didn’t leave anything in the room. The next hotel I could reserve for the night was 2 hours from my home! They offered to pay for me a room at a hotel nearby. I had no choice but to accept it. That hotel was not of any quality. You can smell marijuana as you walk past the rooms. A lot of people were hanging around in the parking lots too. Directly behind a gas station; just a scary place to be. The furniture was not clean as well. The Mockingbird was not all that clean either. The shower didn’t look as tho it was cleaned and it had hair on the walls. My Uncle died from COVID-19 today. I really just wanted to go to my hotel room and relax after having such a long day. This place completely added to my stress. Did I mention that this hotel was already an our from my home. Stay far away unless you’re into making your day a lot harder than it has to be. I’m so drained!!

Very unkept hotel This hotel in no way should have the high marks on the hotel website. My family and I went to Walmart and bought cleaning supplies...needed to clean every surface and the bathroom. There was dust an inch thick on the carpet. We requested non-smoking rooms...they were not. The people in the room next to ours smoked pot, which we could smell when we entered and exited our rooms. This room and ours were no smoking rooms. The management provided a $10 discount...will never stay here again.

Adequate stay My wife and I stayed on the 6/4/2019 in room 151. This is a king bedded room with microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and float screen television. This is a wheel chair friendly room with grab bars in the bathroom with a bathtub, and a roll in shower. Very amazed about that. This property offers a pool, breakfast in the morning, and is pet friendly. The check in process was fast and friendly. The only things that I would criticize is that the dead bolt would not lock, the room furniture is a little dated, I thought for me the bed was a little high, and no Kleenex tissue was available. Other wise this is a nice place. Well done....
