Amazing Customer Service I have many different hotel visits Airbnb stays. But this one has made it to my top 5 list of will return. I will return here for many reasons but the main one is because of Lacian, Shantoy and Kashana at the front desk. They are the best there has ever been. If there is an 'A' team at this place all three of them are definitely on it and if not hurry and put them on it. I recommend them all for assistant manager position whenever possible. They are prime examples of intelligent, outgoing, hard working, sweet organized. I think they deserve to be in a position higher than front desk.

Holiday Inn vs Catalonia Montego Bay Visited Holiday Inn in April and now in September, it’s called Catalonia Montego Bay. Not much difference in the quality as yet. Reasonable price for very clean comfortable accommodation. Good air conditioning, comfortable beds and pillows. There are many new beach lounge chairs and an abundance of very delicious food. The staff members are are very helpful and friendly especially Danisa and Oshea in the a la carte dining area. There are still no channels available on the good quality Television. I asked for a radio and it was delivered within minutes. Internet is good in the lobby and sporadic to none in the room. Managers are very approachable and will do their best to accommodate your special requests. Lots of new improvements are being promised as the new ownership settles in. Hopefully they will keep the price as attractive to their clientele as they try to improve the aesthetics.

Fun in the Sun! Traveled with family to this resort. Second time here after a many years. It's an older resort but grounds and rooms are kept very clean. The time that we went, the resort wasn't full so service was quick and efficient. Front desk agents were very inviting, polite and willing to help. Check in was quick. Rooms, older but very clean. Bed was comfortable, bathroom small but shower had good pressure and lots of hot water. AC worked well but was very loud and would often times wake us up. We found out half way through our stay that the channels on the TV needed to be reprogramed. Once that was done, we were able to get about 10 channels outside of the one we had from the start. (Maybe this is what's wrong with most TVs, they are not reprogramed after power outages.) Food was good, a lot of Jamaican options at the buffet. Service was good at the buffet and great in the a la carte restaurants. Our favorite a la carte was the Sea food and Jamaican restaurants. Least favorite was the Italian. Main complaint we had was in the main buffet. Too many flies!!! Especially at breakfast time. It was a turn off! We would spend most of our time fanning flies away then eating. It was very unpleasant. Maybe management can look into doing something about alleviating this problem. Perhaps, putting up mesh around the dinning area that faces the pool. Please do something about the flies!!! No one wants flies on the food they want to eat. Pool bar, Jerk hut, ice cream bar were good and worth checking out. Entertainment and night life is lacking. More effort needs to be put into this area. Most nights, they only had singing. Not everyone is into that. It would have been nice to see a show or have interactive games/ activities for guest to participate in. Overall, this resort is a good value for the price. Very family oriented and it also has an adult side. I would return to the resort in the future. Thank you Catalonia Montego Bay for a nice time.

Excellent 10 day stay at this lovely beach resort Excellent hotel but bit tired and needs refurbishment in several areas + evening entertainment needs major improvement. We checked into this hotel on 31st August and were asked to wait till 3pm however were provided with wrist bands so could start using all inclusive facilities. After a few drinks at the bar, I noticed that a few people were being checked in at around 2.15pm. Hence I went to reception and spoke to a lovely lady called Debbie-Ann who said she could check me in straight away and upgraded me to a junior suite with full front sea view at no extra charge as hotel wasn't busy. We really appreciated that and after collecting the key cards, went straight to the room which was on top floor of adjacent building. It was a large room with a lovely bathroom and a huge balcony overlooking the sea and the island. The room had a TV, fridge, lots of storage, coffee maker, iron, ironing board and an electronic safe. The room had a king size bed with a large sofa. The bathroom was equipped with a walk in shower (which was excellent in terms of water pressure and had 3 settings) and was equipped with various Dove toiletries apart from shower gel which we prefer to hand soap. Hence we purchased our own shower gel from a nearby supermarket which was a 5 to 7 minute walk from the hotel. After unpacking our luggage (we were going to be here for 10 nights) we went to explore the rest of this huge hotel. There were 2 pools (one huge central pool and one adults only pool with swim up bar), lots of bars like the jerk bar, adults only bar, pool bar as well as the main bar near lobby area. There was a kids club, 4 tennis courts, mini golf, several a la carte restaurants (in addition to the main buffet restaurant) and a huge private beach area (nearly half a mile long) with plenty of sunbeds all along. However, according to us the hotel's best feature is the private island which you can walk through the water to get to. This island had plenty of sunbeds too but no bar or shower area. However snorkeling around the island was very good and we spent most days at this lovely small island. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch at the main buffet restaurant and seemed to have plenty of choice however were not impressed with the vegetarian food on offer for dinner. Hence we mostly dined at the complimentary a la carte restaurants (Italian, Japanese, Jamaican & seafood). Had to book a day in advance but there was no problem with getting a booking as it was low season. Moreover, we were surprised that very few people dined at these restaurants despite being complimentary. All the menus had vegetarian choices which was great. Our favourite was the Italian eatery (Mamma Mia) which had plenty of vegetarian choices and we visited this restaurant 4 times for evening meal as there is no limit how many times one can go to each restaurant as long as the booking was available and restaurant was not closed. Each restaurant usually closed few times a week. There was also a waterports/diving centre. Non motorised watersports like kayaking were free however there was a charge for glass bottom boat/snorkelling/diving trips. There were other snack bars to obtain food during the day like the icecream/nachos place which was open from 12 to 6pm and chicken/pork at jerk bar was served between 12 and 6pm too. However we enjoyed drinks at jerk bar as it had a nice seating area around the bar with a lovely bartender who always served us cold beers as soon as we sat down at 12pm (after swimming/snorkelling at the island) most days. It was a shame that there was not much seating around the other outdoor bars. In the evenings we usually had drinks at the lobby bar and enjoyed the cocktails & rum on offer. However, they couldn't serve us mojito (one of our favourite cocktails) as they ran out of mint in the last 5 days of our holiday. The bar staff there were very good too. Rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaners did a good job. Some days they were not cleaned till later in the afternoon but they were always done without fail. We booked a few excursions with our TUI rep to Dunns river falls, YS falls, black river safari and a snorkelling boat trip. All were very good. One of our TUI excursions (Montego bay shopping trip) was cancelled at short notice. We booked one through viator (Chukka zipline) and it was good too. On the whole wereally enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel. Yes there are much more expensive hotels in Montego bay but this hotel (previously Holiday inn) has everything one needs for an enjoyable vacation. Yes it needs improvements and we could see signs of it happening when we were there like tables and chairs replaced in main dining room. I'm sure Catalonia will make other improvements soon. Also buffet restaurant needs more vegetarian/vegan meal choices for evening meals. Once the whole place is refurbished, this will be an excellent 4 star hotel which we would love to come back to.
