  • Go Kart World
People of all ages are drawn to the sensations of racing?the wind in their hair, the adrenaline coursing through their veins, the checkered flags fanning them while pit crews feed them grapes. So Go Kart World ensures everybody can find the racer's thrill in a safe environment. Its so accessible, in fact, that its raceways have been shared by families and celebrities including Jonah Hill, Jodie Foster, and Quentin Tarantino. Six winding go-kart tracks give racers the ability to handpick their experience. One arena is designed just for bumper cars, whereas a polished-concrete slick track welcomes slide-intensive sprint-car racing. The park's biggest draw, however, is its two-story Super Track, which tests drivers' skills and stamina with a one-third-mile course set 15-feet above the ground and filled with hair-raising 26-degree turns. Each course even uses its own style of kart, from kid-sized machines to adults' champ and euro karts that can reach speeds more than 40 mph.

  • Mulligan Family Fun Center
Mulligan Family Fun Center's three locations surround parents and kids with sprawling smorgasbords of kinetic entertainment. Outside, each park's sunny grounds encourage healthy activity with putt-testing miniature-golf courses and the hairpin turns of go-kart tracks. In the batting cages, aspiring sluggers test their swing while recognized major-league sluggers test their disguise against the park's do-not-admit posters. Back inside, climbers scale the rock wall?s vertical challenges and friends battle friends in laser tag?s intense light-based combat. Each location also has its own signature activities. The Torrance location's rookie go-karts, for example, enable younger drivers to take a turn down the track, whereas the Palmdale location boasts a longer, 1,500-foot track for children and adults alike.

  • AMF Bowling
"You're up." At Bowlmor locations from coast to coast, that message is passed between friends as they heft a ball, step to the line, and take aim. Glow-in-the-dark lanes complete with lane-side servers and banquette seating up the style factor on traditional games of bowling. These snazzy bowling lanes might be where the competition starts, but they're certainly not where it ends. That's because Bowlmor offers more than just bowling?laser tag, arcade games, mini golf, bocce, and even ropes courses make appearances at various Bowlmor locations across the country. Likewise, soda and chips fall by the wayside in favor of more upscale American fare and specialty cocktails.

  • Palos Verdes Bowl
Palos Verdes Bowl has been open for more than half a century, but just because it's reached middle age doesn't mean it lacks modern amenities. On Wednesday and Saturday evenings, the alley's karaoke hours turn civilians into celebs as they rock out and star in music videos in front of a greenscreen. The stage also plays host to professional musicians on Thursdays and Fridays. Throughout the week, bowlers can take a break to engage in winner-takes-all conversation over sliders, wings, and pizza from the onsite cafe, Maxine's, or a tall brew from the onsite bar, The Cove.

  • Kid Concepts U.S.A
Kid Concepts U.S.A. refers to itself as an "Edu-Tainment Center." That elision of "education" and "entertainment" is the only way to really describe the center's unique form of playtime, which piques kids' interest while increasing their brain power. Though activities for all ages abound, the crowning play piece is a three-level structure with 56 interactive elements that keep kids thinking as they climb padded stairs, navigate twisting tunnels, and wade through a ball pit. Children ages 3 and under can fly down the slide in their own special play structure, or hit up a designated toddler room filled with wedge mats and swings. Other play areas hold oversize building blocks, dress-up clothes, a Velcro puzzle wall, and a particle accelerator for discovering the secrets of the universe. Older kids can join in the fun, too, thanks to an air-hockey table and frequent Xbox Kinect tournaments. Of course, kids of all ages can enjoy a pit stop at the caf? when the fun finally wears them out.
