Great value Great value. Stayed here last second as another motel down the road (Monterey Pines Inn) did the dirty on us. That's another story though. This place put us up with no fuss and the price was 40% lower than most on Munras. No frills, big enough, 25 minutes walk to Canery Row, whale watching. Easy parking. Easy check in. Don't waste your money on more expensive motels on the same road if just using as a stop over for a road trip like us, this one will do nicely.

Avoid. If there's a problem, it's b/c you. Horrible Culture. Tried to charge us twice for the same room. Claimed their system couldn’t fix the problem and charged us dbl. Had to call cc company to void. Total hassle. Kid behind counter doesn’t want to be there. Avoid. Response from the owner: We apologize for the inconvenience. Actually you booked two rooms under two separate reservations three weeks ago. Since reservations are confirmed we are obligated to hold rooms for you. Our front desk had discussed your situation with the reservation manager and manager asked him to cancel second reservation with no cancellation penalty. He then called you and accommodate your reservation but you refused to take the room. We have tried our best to fix your error and accommodate your needs in our best effort. Thank you for your feedback. UPDATE: Reply to Owner. Customer is wrong, they said it twice, must be true. I love the "Blame the Customer" culture. Please help everyone out by going to some business training classes. Your reply is so unprofessional. "Your error". "Your mistake". You can start this process by putting YOUR ego aside for a moment. We did not double book. I am 54 y.o. Over the years I have filled two passports with country stamps. I have never double booked in my life. How do you even do that? You book a room. Receive a conformation email, which your son asked to see. Then he said, "Well you're double booked, you must have two of them". If I would have saw two conformations, I would have done something about that. "No, I don't. Just the one. Look". So I show him what he asked for but... meant nothing to him when he didn't like what he saw. WE suggested to your son to do what you "offered" us before we left. HE chose not to serve us. Seems simple, right? A quick solution. Cancel one and take the other. Well your son/employee of the month chose differently. He decide not to serve us in any way. He went with, "WELL THE SYSTEM SAYS THIS, SOOOOOOOOOO. NOTHING I CAN DO." Yes, you can fix this issue. If you wanted to, but you don't. We can tell. He didn't want to resolve this, so we left. No big deal. To Be Clear. He called the "reservation manager" AFTER we left. He didn't call anyone or offer to call to resolve this. Remember, he said it, "Nothing I could do". I guess we had to leave for him to do something? We were checking in down the street at DAYS INN (which I recommend; quiet, quick check-in and reasonable, and did I say JUST DOWN THE STREET?). I can only imagine how Dad ripped into him and made him call me. In his voice you could hear it, he did not want to make this call. This is the call I got, "Um, if you still want that room you can have it and we won't charge you for the other one." No sorry for the mix-up. Not sorry for being unprofessional. And you sir, you are not sorry for using your kid knowing fully well from these reviews that HE DOESNT GIVE A $h1T THEN THEY CHARGED OUR CC TWO TIMES $204 for a TOTAL of $408! YOU NEED TO DO BETTER.

Fees, Fees and Fees!! I needed to cancel due to being sick and they did not let me and said there was a fee even though on the "about" of the hotel, they state that there is no fee unless you cancel past 3pm, I asked to cancel at 10 am the previous day of the check in. Would not recommend as the service of the hotel is not very good either and they are not a customer service oriented hotel.

Pleasantly Surprised I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The rooms were dated, but clean and tidy. The amenities were a plus; I had a microwave, hairdryer, iron, fridge (and not ultra mini), and most of all a coffeemaker. I checked in at 3pm and I was able to get a ground floor room, which was nice. Parking was ample, I arrived back after a wedding about 9pm and was able to park right in front of my room. The lady at the front desk was pleasant, and checkout was simple - just drop the key in a slot by the reception area. I didn't have time to explore the pool or hot tub area, but I caught a glimpse and it looked clean. Keep in mind, there is no a/c at this location, which in May wasn't an issue, but further in the summer it may be hotter. The sliding door was massive, and I can see where it would provide a nice breeze, but as a lady traveling alone, leaving it open overnight was not an option. I did like all the plantings around the area, too. I love geraniums. All in all, I would stay here again.

Zachary Taylor or maybe Martin van Buren We happened to visit Monterey during the Monterey Jazz Festival and it seemed every room in town was booked and commeasurately elevated in price, because you know... they can. We compromised and wanted just a clean, conveniently located place to stay which was not shockingly gougey. So I will say that the America's Best Value Presidents Inn was all that. So it gets a recommendation. However, we are seasoned Monterey visitors, having stayed at dozens of hotel properties in the greater Monterey region. So I base my review on what I know is out there from high luxury to budget to fleabag. The property is old and the motel design is 70ish. Cleanliness was reasonable though worn in appearance. Rooms were decently sized and appointed with flatscreen, refrigerator, coffee maker, hardryer, bathtub, ironing board, patio screen door, a standing fan, and a heater. There was retrofitted keycard doors and security window bolts. Ice and guest laundry was available. WIFI was good. The location on Munras Avenue was great, near the highway access, shopping, and attractions. Free parking was right in front of the room. What was not available was air conditioning, swimming pool, and breakfast, to be fair, it was stated up front. The room we had was very dark. We needed a light near the desk. Also, the heater unit was constantly on in idle mode (and we thought the weather was warm/humid). Probably initiated because of Corona but an increasingly common practice for hotels as a cost saving measure is housekeeping only on request. All of these are not really complaints but statements of facts. Overall, we got basically what we bargained for and expected. Hassle free. No frills.
