Short but great stay My only regret is that we didn't book a longer stay! Came here for a quick couples getaway. We started the stay with massage appointments. The spa area is nice and comfortable, there are saunas in each locker room, but the steam room and two Jacuzzis are communal and out on the spa deck overlooking the water. Shawn was my masseuse and very good. Next was lunch at Schooner's, the casual restaurant on the property. We sat outside and watched the sea otters while we ate. The food was good with lots of options. The room was nice, a notch above a standard hotel room. The Nespresso coffee maker was a nice touch. The bathroom had a big shower, and there was a separate vanity area with a makeup mirror outside the bathroom. The bed was very comfy with nice linens. The staff were all very friendly. The only (minor) complaint was the TVs could use some updating. You could connect to your streaming services, but only by using the remote as an "air mouse" with an on-screen keyboard where you had to point to each letter one by one to enter your email and password. We would definitely come back.

Fantastic! This hotel is top notch, with a beautiful view of the bay from our room. The room had a small balcony with a table and chair. It was nice to be able to have the ocean breeze in the room. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. It has a great location.

Just a Perfect Stay The Monterey Plaza was simply divine! Our stay was to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and it was perfect! First class amenities, service and staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our room overlooking Monterey Bay and found ourselves lingering just to soak it up. Great location for walking to lots of fun things, too.

All around, fantastic hotel! We'll be back! We had a great time at the Monterey Plaza Hotel! Every interaction with the staff was pleasant and made us feel valued and cared for. The Schooner restaurant has great food and drinks and we really enjoyed watching the sea otters while we ate. We'll definitely be back in the future.

Horrible stay, poor night's sleep. This is definitely not the best hotel in Monterey. That distinction goes to the Intercontinental down the street. The room interiors are dated, things just look worn down.. clearly not a 5-star hotel (I travel a lot for work and have stayed at Fairmonts, Ritz Carltons, Four Seasons, etc.) And the worst part about the rooms are the BEDS. Way too soft, you will literally sink into the mattress and wake up with back problems guaranteed. That's what happened to me. Horrible night's sleep. Don't recommend staying here.
