Modern and Comfortable Hotel is very clean and modern, and the beds are very comfortable with fluffy pillows and comforter. Visited other hotels as we were in town for a wedding and this was by far the better choice. Friendly staff and good selection for breakfast. Would stay again if I have to come to the area!

Valuables Stolen This is one of those reviews that I despise writing. If I could give this property zero stars I would. When you stay at this property, do not bring or leave anything valuable. It will get stolen by the housekeepers or someone in the hotel staff. I stayed at this property for a wedding the weekend of June 24th 2023. Overall the stay is what you would expect from a Holiday Inn: adequate, nothing close to spectacular. Once the wedding concluded I checked out, not knowing I left things behind. As soon as I realized I left behind my high end blazer I called the property, a nasty woman named Tess answered the phone, her first response was, “we are very busy, its checkout time”. That wasn’t going to cut it for me, I needed this blazer back as it is worth a lot of money. She then reluctantly told me to call back in 30 minutes. I called after 30 minutes and she said the blazer was not found. I asked if they checked the closet, where I knew I hung it and saw it last and then she once again responded: “sir we are very busy, it is checkout time.” I once again responded, that I didn’t care what time it was and that I wanted to speak to a manager immediately. She said “no he’s not in yet” and call back in 10 minutes and they will check the closet. I then decided to drive back out to Mt. Arlington from Jersey City, about a 40 minute drive. As soon as I called back 10 minutes later and they said they didn’t find it in the closet, I asked to speak to a manager. She refused, saying the manager was coming in at 11am (it was 10:54 at the time). I didn’t understand how I couldn’t speak to anyone in management as it was a Wednesday during normal business hours. She then responded with the same excuse of: “sir we are very busy, it is checkout time.” I then told her that I am on my way there to pick up my blazer, and she responded: “if that will make you feel better sir then okay”. I asked her to confirm if her manager will be there and she said: “I have no idea” and of course I responded, “you just said he will be there at 11”. And then she said “oh I don’t want to break my word, so I don’t know. He should be here in 15 minutes,” and then she said again “sir we are very busy, it is checkout time.” And she hung up. I arrive at the property to find a woman, with a familiar voice. And as soon as I mention the blazer she fired back, “sir we don’t have it”. I then asked to speak to the manager and she said; “sir he is on vacation and I can’t call him while he is on vacation,” I then reminded her that she told be he would be here at 11:15. She then said, “I came in at 11:30, so I don’t know who told you that or what you heard.” I then asked to speak to the housekeeping manager and she also said “no” to that too. I was flabbergasted, the story about the manager kept changing as the day went on. He was going to be in at 11, then he was going to come in 15 minutes, then he went on vacation. I also couldn’t speak to a housekeeping manager, or anybody other than this woman. It definitely raised my suspicions. I asked to inspect the room, and she said “no we can’t disturb the guest in there at this time.” I said I’m sure they won’t mind, this jacket is extremely valuable. And she then responded: “sir this is a privacy issue.” I knew the hotel had to have a lost and found policy, the lost property of a guest would have to be retained for some period of time and I knew 48 hours was more than sufficient to keep my blazer. The woman then explained to me the policy that if something is left in the room that the housekeeper reports it and then the front desk calls the guest formally occupying the room. I then questioned, how was I supposed to believe that actually happened. And she then responded, “I have no answer to that sir.” We ended up going back and forth for about 10 minutes between not being able to see a manager or the room. Eventually she let me see the room, and to no avail the blazer was of course not there. Also to my surprise, the room was not occupied by anyone. She had me write down my name and phone number for the manager, should he return. It made me feel better at first and then I realized I left the pair of shoes I wore to the wedding as well. I then questioned her about the shoes, to which she said they didn’t have either. Realizing I left the shoes in a pretty blatant place, I knew that the housekeeper wasn’t going to miss them when cleaning the room. At that point I knew my belongings were definitely stolen. The horrendous customer service throughout this experience started to make a lot of sense. These women were either covering for the housekeeper who cleaned my room, or for another employee of the hotel who took my belongings. It’s just simply not fair, my simple mistake led to a loss of over $1,000 and a tarnished memory of the beautiful wedding I attended. I’ve stayed at numerous Holiday Inns throughout this country for work and none of my experiences were quite this poor. I am posting this review for couples looking to book this property for their special day. This is not the place do it. Between their extremely poor customer service and most importantly their dishonesty, this is not a place you want to house your loved ones. They will remember your special day for all the wrong reasons: their stuff getting stolen and that they very busy because it is checkout time.
