Nice, clean and a great value Value for the $ makes this 5*. Even though the hallways are decorated too dark, they are exceptionally clean. Friendly staff. Rooms big and clean, bthroom has large vanity area, nice updated shower. We get hot breakfast as Diamond members, a perk we appreciate.

Bad Customer Service Highly displeased with the way they handled our penciled in reservation. We called weeks ahead of anyone else for the spot we needed for our Christmas party. We get an email to inform us that although we were penciled in, there is a company that "always" has that weekend for their Christmas party, and we would have to make a decision (during that phone call). By the way we needed to make a decision without even an idea of what reservations for the conference rooms would be. So, they basically told us take it or leave it without anything to base our decision as it pertains to cost! Then at the same time we didn't get to respond because we were informed that the other company was "already signing"! What the heck! On April 17th I go to check out, the attendant rudely yells from the back room, "I'll be right there!" I was checking out, so I just placed my room cards on the des and I walk over a few feet to grab a cup of coffee (waiting for the attendant). She yells at me from the desk and says, "You need to put your cards in the box yourself!" Ok, no problem. I put them in the box and kindly asked if she would print out a receipt for me. She rudely asks, "Well, what's your room number?" I give it to her, and she says, "I will not print one out because you ordered off of Expedia, which is understandable, but the demeanor from this person was disgusting. I will say, Rita Lavelle and Diane Parker....great people to work with! The Complex Group Sales Director....could use CS training! We've held our annual summit, Sales meeting and our Recognition party along with room blocks for other leadership meetings throughout the years. It was unprofessional to have been treated this way.

Nice hotel, nice room My wife and I recently spent a Saturday night at the Doubletree Hotel in Mundelein, IL. We booked the room as part of a hotel block for a wedding that we were attending, so I can’t really comment on the price. The hotel is located on a fairly busy highway with various commercial businesses, including some fast casual restaurants, nearby. The hotel is quite large and has almost 200 rooms. I was told that it was built in the 60’s, but it obviously has had a recent remodel with a Craftsman/Frank Lloyd Wright vibe. The lobby was sort of sparse, but did have some Stickley-style chairs for lounging. Parking and wi-fi is free. There several meeting rooms and a business center, which was temporarily closed. A fitness center and indoor pool are also off the lobby. (We didn’t use any of these amenities.) Breakfast was not included in the room rate, but on-site dining is offered at the Karma Pub. Check-in was courteous and efficient. As is apparently customary at Doubletrees, we were given warmed chocolate chip cookies when we registered. We were assigned room 112 on the first floor, which faced a quiet courtyard. There was a second door to access a dedicated outdoor patio, but there was no furniture outside. (See pic) Maybe it was already. stored for the season? The room was clean and decorated with earth tones in the Craftsman style. All the furniture had a Mission-style to it. A flat screen TV was on a tall two-door cabinet. (There were three small drawers in the cabinet, a dorm-sized refrigerator and a coffee brewer with fixings.). Other furniture included a wide desk with office chair, an upholstered bench along the courtyard window, and a Stickley knock-off lounge chair/ottoman. A fairly small closet contained an iron/ironing board and wall safe. The king-size bed had five pillows. The bed was a little soft, but comfortable. It was flanked by mis-matched nightstands with lamps. There was a digital clock on one. Two power cubes each with four USB ports were also in the room.
The bathroom was average-sized. The vanity had lots of counter space. The shower was generously sized. There was a hair dryer, wall-mounted toiletries (hand soap, hair/body wash, and body lotion) by Crabtree & Evelyn. Shower pressure and water temperature were fine. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would recommend it if you are looking for lodging in the Mundelein/Libertyville area. Jetted Tub sadness Arrival was interesting, if you have your hands full you will not be walking into the hotel. I was fortunate to have a kind gentleman open the door for me. No automatic doors or even doors light enough to open. I can't imagine a handicapped experience. Front desk help was kind and check in went smoothly. The halls are dark and old, lots of wood. My jetted tub room (even more wood) was damp as I walked in. Everything felt wet. I tried adjusting the A/C and that really didn't help. Large window with a long window seat, that was neat, but staring at the pool roof wasn't really in my plans. The jetted tub is small. I'm 5'6 and it was tight. Great water pressure though. Shower was kind of gross and very outdated. Vents were caked with dust/debris, again gross. Overall just very outdated. Sleeping was a nightmare because the A/C unit was EXTREMELY loud and would wake me when it kicked on. I believe I finally passed out at 4am only to have housekeeping bang LOUDLY and repeatedly on my door at 8. When I responded with a loud "yes?" She said "oh, sorry" and left. I tried to watch TV and the remote only worked if you stood directly in front of the tv. Silly I know but I couldn't really hear it anyway. Bed was comfortable, lots of pillows. Comforter was dingy but that could have something to do with the never ending moisture in that room. Very very sad night away for me and a huge waste of money.
