PICTURES OF THIS “MOTEL” ARE VERY DECEIVING! The entire motel is rundown with a fresh coat of paint! This location is 8 levels of a tight garage and the only thing separating your bedroom from the parking garage (that the public has access too) are the 3 elevators (that are also a nightmare). As a family with little children, we felt very very unsafe at this location. Around the entire motel and in the room smelled like Marijuana. The hallway to the rooms is open like a motel and not enclosed, this "condo" is one of few that are not part of the motel. This unit is directly off the elevators and there is a huge window right off the hallway next to the beds that are right as you walk in the unit. This felt very unsafe as well considering all the unlawful activity. There were people hanging out all around the amenities that were not wearing wristband, and nobody was monitoring. Anyone could walk off the beach and access the amenities/motel. The playground was gross, and the slide was broken. The elevators are separate but use the same call buttons, so it was impossible to get an elevator by yourself. You had to run back and fourth to see which one was opening. The smell of smoke/ Marijuana in our room was overwhelming and giving my children a headache. There were obvious drug use/sales going on and we felt very very unsafe. We couldn’t even use the balcony to air out the unit because the smell was coming from other balconies as well. We left 20min after checking in and only used 2 towels , nothing else was touched and only got a partial refund from the Host. Host claimed she had to pay the cleaning people hundreds of dollars which was why we didn't get most of our money back. Host was responsive, but extremely unempathetic. We drove over 6 hours to be disappointed and only get some money back! The beach was nice other than the huge drainage culvert dumping out storm water from the city into the ocean (don't let your kids play in this water). Please save yourself from renting this for your family!

Great home away from home. Check in fast , room is great, oceanfront , king size bed , lots of towels , breakfast was very good, only thing with the price it said one thing online was charged another when we got there. But everything else was great ! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

Wonderful Place to Stay! We had a wonderful, short get-away last week in Myrtle Beach. I found a terrific deal from Monterrey Bay and spontaneously jumped on it. The rooms were immaculate, pleasant, and roomy. Every staff member that we came in contact with was polite and extremely helpful. I wish I had gotten more staff names, but I was only able to get the names of three. Barbara was a ray of sunshine every morning as we enjoyed our complimentary hot breakfast. She performed her duties efficiently and cheerfully. She brightened the beginning of each day by singing as she worked. Her voice and happy disposition were truly a bright spot in each day. Lauren (I hope I spelled it correctly) was the manager on duty as Hurricane Helene battered the area. On Fri morning, she calmly walked through the dining area, gave emergency instructions, answered questions about preparedness, and maintained order with staff and guests. I appreciated how she professionally and composedly handled the potential chaos around us. Because of the storm, I asked to extend our stay another night. Paulette, at the desk, was so sweet and helpful as she took care of my request. Each time I had to go to the front desk, she was so very kind and courteous. My family and I will definitely be returning. Thanks to everyone here who works to make this hotel such an enjoyable place.

Disappointed ☹️ We use to stay at Monterey Bay every year but it had been 10 years since we were here. So Disappointed!!!!!! The shower controls did work correctly, air conditioning did not cool well in living room area, freezer did not freeze, room safe did not latch, no maid service some days….what a mess! We will not go back. Do not expect the room to be in the shape that the photos show. Good Luck if you choose to stay here.

Run away!!! Checked in and the room was horrible. Nothing like it was advertised. Our ocean view was really a view of the hotel next door that is being renovated. The living room area was about 8x10 and had 2 office reception type chairs, a small dinette set, a 20"tv mounted that couldn't be seen from the seats. All exposed pipes in bathroom. No vanity, it SMELLED like.mold. I asked to be moved and was told nothing was available. So I demanded a refund and we went elsewhere.
