Getaway Weekend Trip My husband and I stayed at Suburban for the weekend. Was a little disappointed because did not serve breakfast. Didn't have to be free, but couldn't even purchase. I had booked for 1 night at the friends and family rate, and we decided to stay another night. I thank Jay for extended my night at the rate that I had booked for the first night. He was very pleasant and nice. Also, would like to thank Aletta at front desk when I checked in on first night , and she too was very nice.

Unbelievblable We were there for our annually family reunion, and I had my grand daughters with me so many roaches they stayed up all night one of them was terrified about bugs, they was counting them they said they counted eighty five bugs and we had to put everything up off the floor and came home had to quarantine everything we took out the car and wash all clothes and left all bags out side, I never want to go there again.

Never Again!!! **Because my problems with this hotel started before I even checked in; I must warn you this is a long review** We had a reservation at this hotel for our pre Fourth of July Family Vacation. My original reservation was for June 29th through July 3rd. I needed to make a change to my arrival date from the 28th to the 29th, even though I was well within my time frame to make changes to my reservation, for some strange reason getting my arrival date changed from the 28th to the 29th was a nightmare. I went from talking to the front desk clerk to talking to someone and customer care to speaking with someone from the corporate office! Yes, I said the corporate offices of Choice Hotels. And after 40 minutes of talking to people and being transferred all over the place; no one, and I mean no one, seemed to be able to figure out how to change my arrival date from the 28th to the 29th! And then had the audacity to tell me that if I did not come on the 28th my reservation would be canceled and I would lose my room all together! I was livid!! Adding to the fact that we didn't check in on the 28th until 4 in the morning which is why I needed to change it in the first place! When we arrived the front desk clerk was too busy watching her television show to even greet me as I walked into the door. She wasn't disrespectful or rude in any way she just was not very attentive to me. I went to check the room she had me in, as I always do before I bring my family in, and the stench in the hallway on the way to the room was horrible! The carpet was disgusting and there were tears and holes in the carpet. It did not seem as if this hotel was been well taken cared of. The first room they put me in was awful! It was a non-smoking room that smelled like cigar smoke, there was mold around the lampshade, the counters had burn marks on them, and it just felt dirty when I walked into it. So I went back to the front desk clerk to get another room only to find it slightly better. Unfortunately, because I was stuck between a rock and a hard place (remember it's 4 in the morning) I took my handy-dandy Clorox wipes container and went over the room before calling my family in! While we were there they did have the carpets cleaned but it only seemed to stir up the stench in the hallway instead of getting rid of it. I am a frequent guest of extended stay hotels and this was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had! We tried to spend as much time out of the room as possible only coming in to sleep, it was horrible I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, and not only will I not be staying at this hotel again but after the debacle of trying to change my arrival date, I will not be staying at any choice hotel brands! Except for the third shift clerk, the staff was very friendly and tried to be as accommodating as possible when we did need things which tells me the state of this hotel is an ownership problem, the staff are merely working with what they have. I've placed pictures of both rooms that I was in so that you can see for yourself the quality of this place, or the lack thereof.

An Honest Assessment........ When you go to Myrtle Beach in June, compromises have to be made. The place we usually stay at right on the beach was 3 times the price that we are used to. I booked this hotel through a Hotwire secret rate in April, and got a good deal. The place is in a decent location- near a lot. Walmart is right down the street to get groceries. The pool area was nice- well maintained and refreshing. The room itself was nice, with hardwood floors and a kitchenette. The staff was very friendly. The people on the 3rd floor above us were a little restless- it seemed like they were dancing all night. BIG HOWEVER, though. I usually take negative reviews with a grain of salt. You need to heed this!! The first night we were there, I went to get something out of the fridge and I noticed a big bug crawling over the stove. I wasn't bothered at first. 10 minutes later, my wife goes into the bathroom and notices another bug crawling on the floor. I went right down to the main desk- the woman on duty was nice, but she didn't seem surprised at all about what I reported!! They said Maintenance would call us the next morning-they never did. Out of our 7 night stay, we saw one bug at least 5 of the nights. I didn't see an infestation, but we made darn sure to keep our luggage closed and our stuff off the floor. I'm still freaked out about the whole thing, and am constantly checking to make sure we didn't bring home any roaches. I didn't hate the place, but don't think I'll stay here again. And it is absolutely not true that every hotel in the South has roaches. No WAY!!
