Last Stay for Me! I have always loved staying at the Breakers but after this stay I doubt I will return. I am a 72 year old woman who is DEATHLY afraid of heights to a point it is almost a phobia. In addition the up and down from high floors in the elevators nauseates me to a point that I had to spend the last day of my vacation last year in my room vomiting all day. For some reason my stomach can't take it. Upon making the reservation I asked if I could possibly have a room on a low floor for the reasons mentioned. The woman said she would make a note of it but couldn't guarantee anything. I called days prior to my arrival and had the same conversation with someone else. The woman I spoke to said she could see that I had requested it and it was noted but again couldn't guarantee the room location. After traveling for six hours I checked in and found that I was on the 21st floor. Can you believe it? The 21st floor. The highest floor in the hotel. Way to go Breakers! I was so stressed just thinking about staying up there. I was not about to pay $1,675.92 to stay four nights and be scared to death. Fortunately, I was traveling with my son an able bodied healthy 32 year old who was assigned a room on the 2nd floor (he didn't request a low floor room). He agreed to switch rooms with me. Imagine putting the older scared woman on the highest floor in the hotel and giving the second floor (that she requested) room to her young son. Sad that my son got the room on the low floor and I was very very high up. They certainly should have been aware that we were together because we both had the same address. The woman at the desk indicated that if my son did not agree to switch rooms she could put me in the Sailfish unit. If I wanted to stay in the Sailfish unit common sense would indicate that I would have booked a room there. My family always stays in the Paradise (because of activities for the children) and I babysit my grandchildren so switching units was not an option. I travel often and make requests like this in hotels that have many stories and in most instances they are usually honored. I never have difficulty anywhere else. It is not a big deal. Most hotels want their guests to be comfortable during their stay not traumatized as I would have been staying on the 21st floor where they had initially assigned me. This was my third stay at the Breakers and I do like it. The rooms are always clean, there is much to do and it is within walking distance of excellent restaurants but it was my last stay. I won't go through that again next summer. It was so very stressful to check in and find out your room is on the 21st floor. Sad they can't attempt to accommodate their elderly guests any better and instead do the exact opposite of what they request. I was highly offended.

Disappointment We were very disappointed with this hotel. We have stayed in many nice hotels around the world, as we travel a great deal. I would not recommend this one at all. It is very overpriced for what it offers. We stayed in the Sailfish Tower. Our room was supposed to be a 2-bedroom oceanfront that was 5,000+ for the week. When we got there, they gave us a second floor room, with an obstructed view full of palms. The building is also old, ugly, and dark. The housekeeping was awful and barely there. They only cleaned our room once when we requested it. We had to ask for clean towels daily, because they never changed them. The elevator was small, old, and overcrowded. The hotel also lacks any security. The parking is very spread out and difficult to locate. We did complain to the hotel management, and all we were offered was to leave the resort with a refund. This was impossible to do, as this was high season in Myrtle Beach. The hotel management was not responsive to any of our concerns. Go somewhere else if you can afford a nice oceanfront room in the strand in Myrtle Beach. There are other much better options.

Good Summer Trip Nice clean and comfortable room. Stayed in the Paradise Tower in an ocean view studio which you can tell has been recently renovated. The location is great. We usually stay at the Compass Cove which is a sister property but decided to switch it up a bit this year. This resort gets really crowded. I would recommend this more in the off season. My only real complaint is all the bathrooms around the pool areas are unisex with one toilet and every time you go to use it there is urine all over the toilet seat and in the floor around it, so we would have to trek back up to the room to use the bathroom. But staff is friendly and effiicient and Housekeeping emptied our trash and changed our linens daily.

Lovely 2nd experience Lovely. Clean, newly renovated and comfortable. Outside the building smells bad though but overall lovely oceanfront view, perfect for families, we see Syed for 4 days and only left the building to eat. Fun water parks lots of pools, lazy river. It was really amazing.
