Always Wonderful, Never Disappoints This is my go to place to stay in New Orleans for so many reasons. The staff - from the front desk to the bellman & everyone in between - is first class. I love that the InterCon is in the middle of everything, but without the crowds, noise, congestion or traffic at other hotels' locations. I appreciate the easy access to all the sights, the French Quarter, the famous streetcars. The lobby is gorgeous, and the rooms are lovely, homey and very comfortable. I traveled solo, and I never felt unsafe; the staff, especially Oswald, made sure I was well taken care of. I've noticed there are often events going on at the hotel and mentioned it to a staff member in an offhand way. The next thing I knew, one of the sales staff, who happened to be nearby, said he had a few minutes and asked if I'd like an impromptu tour. Wow, that ballroom is fabulous! Actually, all of the event & meeting space is impressive. It's that kind of treatment, almost like I'm family, that makes me return here again and again. Thank you to everyone for making my latest stay so memorable and wonderful. I hope to see you all again soon!

Pretty Good Experience This property has some 5-star attributes, and you will no doubt be comfortable here. It's easy walking distance to the heart of the French Quarter, but just far enough away from the noise and craziness to offer you a quiet night's rest. Definitely recommended for its location. Good restaurants all around. I took one star off because it took three calls to the front desk over two days to get maintenance up to unclog the shower. When maintenance did come, we didn't see what he snaked out of the drain, but we did hear him exclaim "Oh wow!" He then immediately called housekeeping to clean up. Yuck. In any event, this is a nice hotel in a great location with a decent rooftop swimming pool and a good gym. I would generally recommend it.

Staff unwilling to deal with a problem and have a temper tantrum instead! Having been allocated a room with an inter connecting door our issue started at 01.00 in the morning when we were awoken by the sound of loud music and other ‘noises’ from the room next door. After an hour we contacted reception to ask if they could request that the guests be a little quieter by at least turning the music down. 45 minutes or so later with no change in the noise level we went to reception and asked for some assistance as by this stage we just needed to sleep. The two ladies in reception offered a different room which was acceptable. I made what I considered to be a reasonable request considering the time, the lack of response to our earlier call and the fact that nobody would be using our room till much later in the day, that we be allowed to move our belongings early (08.00 ish) that morning. The ladies simply said no as a guest couldn’t ‘have’ two rooms. I highlighted it didn’t seem fair to expect a guest, at that time of the morning to pack when all they desperately needed was sleep and no one else would be given our initial room until housekeeping had been to clean it. The response was housekeeping starts from 07.30 (it seem to be our initial room would somehow be the first to be cleaned…seriously)? A ‘speech; then followed that if our initial room on the 9th floor was robbed in the next 5 hours it wouldn’t be the hotel’s responsibility. I had taken 2 steps away from reception when one of the staff threw her pen at her computer screen in a fit of temper. At approximately 08.00 we returned to our original room, packed and returned the key to reception. The room thankfully hadn’t been robbed and housekeeping were nowhere to be seen. Later that morning I spoke to a manager from reception as I wasn’t happy with petulant and unreasonable attitude of the staff. She immediately stated she had been made aware of the issue and the staff had been correct, a guest COULD NOT have two rooms to which I simply pointed out that between 03.00 and 08.30 we had in fact had two rooms so she was arguing a point which was clearly untrue. Sadly it appeared she was incapable of understanding she was taking a stand point of arguing against something which had actually already happened. We experienced several other issues such as a number of inaccuracies on our bill adding to an overcharge close to $100. Our key stopped working at noon when we were promised it wouldn’t as we had a 4pm checkout time, with a member of staff knocking on the door only a couple of minutes after 12noon and a second member of staff entering the room. The plumbing in the bathroom made a loud banging noise. On checking out a gentleman called Mark finally showed some empathy with regards our experience which was appreciated. We have stayed in Intercontinental Hotels across 4 continents and have never experienced staff who are not prepared to try and understand the specifics of a guest’s issues. Had the noise issue been at 10 am, 3 pm or even 11 pm then I would have understood and accepted the request to pack and move but at 3 am I would have hoped and expect any staff to be more understanding of the situation and more flexible in trying to resolve it rather than having a hissy fit.

Thanks to the front desk team While the Intercontinental is looking a little tired, the front desk staff, and especially Audra, Mersedeh, and Mark, could not have been more helpful.

Worst hotel we've ever stayed in. They (check in counter) lied to us right of the bat. Out room wasn't ready at check in time so we went to the bar literally 30 feet away and sat where we could see the check in desk which means we were practically in the lobby. This was at 3pm. At 5pm my wife went to the check in desk and said "Look, my husband can be kind of a dick if you mess up, but now you've got me pissed and that's almost impossible. Why do we not have our room?" They lied and said that they texted me and I immediately showed them my texts and asked where do they see it, you're lying. Then, at 11:30 pm, we were awakened by the sound of a plumber's drain snake ripping back and forth through the pipes in the wall. Thean at midnight, very loud pounding on the door, like the cops or the fire department. It was two maintenance men that informed us that there was a problem in another unit with the plumbing and they would be back to run a snake through our toilet. I immediately called the front desk and demanded another room so we could sleep before our cruise the next morning. The initial response was that they were sold out and there were no other rooms available. After my next comment they said they would see what they could do. A short while later there was a knock at the door, it was a lady telling me that she was on her way down to get the keys to a suite. Okay, not sure why you stopped here to tell me that, just get the damn key. When she returned to take us to our replacement room and she made a big deal out how they were giving us a suite to which we replied that we were getting a suite. To which I replied that they started with another lie, they did actually have another room available but didn't want to give it up and that all we were going to use is the bed, sleep, get up, and leave. But wait, there's more. As we were packing and getting ready to depart, a Star Trek like re alert klaxon started whooping and then an announcement to evacuate the building. I told my wife that we were not leaving without our belongings as we wouldn't be able to retrieve out belongings until long after our ship departed. It turned out to be a false alarm, overlapping announcements were forthcoming. Evacuate, never mind, evacuate, etc.. And after all of that, I had to argue hard to get only half of our one-night-stay money back. Customer service sucks at this hotel. I have the videos.
