Pod 39

Better than expected Before I booked, a reviewer described the room as "a nice cruise cabin," and that set my expectations. It's small, but has everything you need. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower water pressure was good. We even had a room with windows that opened (!). Convenient to Grand Central, and the roof deck is delightful. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

Perfect stay The room was very comfortable and clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is great, close enough to a lot of tourist attractions but still in a relatively quiet area. Free tea and coffee every morning and the view from the rooftop bar were a nice bonus. Really easy to get to, only a five minute walk from Grand Central. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here if I’m ever in the city again.

Everything was perfect The staff is more than friendly, the location is unbeatable. The daily cleaning and free tea and coffee in the morning is a plus. This is the third time I've stayed at the POD (first time in 39) and it always makes me want to visit them again. Very good value for money.

Great Experience, Perfect Location, and Excellent Service! I highly recommend this place! It was my first time in NYC and at this hotel, and I had an excellent experience. I loved the area — it's vibrant and well located. The hotel was beautiful, comfortable, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. We were two people and I booked a room with a bunk bed, which turned out to be really comfortable. I had read that the rooms weren’t very spacious, but I was honestly surprised by how comfortable and well-designed it was. Although breakfast isn’t included, they offer unlimited water, hot water (perfect for mate!), and coffee and tea from 7 AM. You can also pay extra for things like yogurt or fruit. Overall, I had a great stay. The room had amazing views of the Summit, the Empire State Building, and the Chrysler Building — and the rooftop was also excellent. Great value for money — I would definitely stay here again! More highlights: Check-in was at 2 PM, but I arrived earlier and since the room was ready, they kindly let us in. On the day of checkout, my flight was in the afternoon, so I went out early for a walk and they stored our luggage at no extra cost — I picked it up later that day."

Not so "free" coffee and wifi... We stayed at Pod 39 for a quick trip to NYC. Sharing this city with the kids of my wife was an experience for sure. For our stay, we decided on Pod 39 : their location is great — close to Grand Central and quite easy to get around from there. The rooms are compact (as expected) but surprisingly clean and offered a private shower and toilet, which worked well for a short stay. Not a fan of the milky glass separating these from the bed but hey... The staff were polite and check-in was smooth. That said, we were flabbergasted as we figured out during the checkout that the “free Wi-Fi” and “complimentary coffee” were not entirely free. There was a daily facilities fee added to the bill, which supposedly covered these perks. Not a tourist tax (we checked) but a 97 USD fee for these 'free' amenities. Advertising something as complimentary and then charging a mandatory fee for it feels misleading and may I say so, deceptive and enough to stay clear from this hotel in the future. It's even more 'sour' as we were surprised that the wifi was 'free' and I did ask about this 2 days before. With a "yes, the wifi is free" as an answer. Overall, Pod 39 delivered on a clean stay with comfy bed, but we still 'conned' in the end.
