First Time in NY, sanctuary took care of me There’s something quietly special about The Sanctuary at Hotel New York. From the moment you step inside, the energy shifts—it’s calm, intentional, and genuinely thoughtful without being overdone.
What stood out most during my time there was the people. Every interaction felt sincere, never forced. A particular thank you to Jose from the Sanctuary team, whose presence and attention were both grounding and kind. He has a way of making you feel seen without ever overstepping—a rare quality.
The space itself is beautiful, but it’s the tone the team sets that makes it linger in your memory. Not flashy, not performative—just honest hospitality done right. I left feeling more balanced than when I arrived, which I think says everything.

Disappointing The hotel was good in relation to being close to Time Square and other sightseeing activities. However, I found the hotel disappointing. On arrival, I was advised that monies would be taken as a deposit which would be used toward the guest tax, which was OK by me. However, at the end of out stay, the deposit of £111.53 was not only taken, but another separate charge for guest tax was also taken. On top of that, I paid for my mini bar use (bottle of wine) on checkout, to be charged a second time. I returned 10 days later to the hotel on 14/6 to advise of the 'double charges'. The make receptionist was abrupt and rude because I arrived on "check out time". This person was not helpful at all, he advised that the double charge for the wine would be refunded and this did occur a few days later. However the deposit charge which he informed me that the " funds had been released " (£111.53) to date has not been refunded and I have been advised by my bank that I have to wait 30 days!! So it highlights that the receptionist was not factual in his information.
On arrival at the hotel, we were unable to use the top bar area of the hotel due to a 'private function', yet this is what the hotel sells to you, we were not offered any compensation for facilities we could not use!
The room was small and there was little space for suitcases and it was like a obstacle course trying to get to the bathroom. There was no kettle in the room so you had to travel to reception to get a coffee, lifts were slow.
The continental breakfast was good and there was plenty of it. Would I recommend this hotel...No, there is better around for the price.

Pleasant stay Writing my review again as it appears to have been deleted. My family and I had a great stay at the Sanctuary Hotel in May. The rooms are well equipped for a city break. Breakfast is adequate too and the availability to take hot drinks out with you in takeaway cups is a bonus. Door staff are polite and front of house desk are accommodating. Jimmy (Director of Front Office) is fantastic – very knowledgeable of the area and always obliging to help.
Hopefully my review stays on here this time. I would stay here again and would recommend it to others looking for a good hotel location, boutique vibe and unique in size.

NY hotel near Times Square. Perfect location for getting around. Very polite and professional staff. When I left the doorman on duty helped me right down onto the Metro platform with my heavy suitcases. What a result I would have really struggled otherwise.
Easy access by public transport to the airport.
The roof top Haven bar is fun and has a Happy Hour on weekdays
Breakfast is limited.

Scammers!!! Whilst the hotel was a good vibe and the room was fit for what we need it for.
The reception staff are awful. Especially the “manager” Eddie.
When I checked in an asked for the cost of all the taxes or any additional hotel fees as are sometimes charged in the USA as I like to ensure I pay all mine and budget in to my trip costs.
I was told that everything g had been covered in my booking and that I just needed to pay a $300 deposit incase of any room charges. Again, to be expected. I authorised this.
On check out I was informed that $172 dollars would be deducted from my deposit for “facility” fees, some $34 a day for I’m not sure what for. I spoken to the manager who told me in no uncertain terms that my card would be charged and there is nothing he could or was willing to do. He basically said if his staff member said that she was wrong and they would be charging me.
When I checked my account they had taken a further $172 on my card and the $300 hold deposit also remained on my account.
I have only just been refunded the $300 after an automatics refund from my bank lapsed after 30 days as the hotel failed to release my deposit. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.
Accuses of being in the wrong and then took a payment I didn’t no authorise from my card I had put on file purely for mini bar charges which they the. Also failed to release.
