Great setting, bad neighbors As many have noted, the location of the Newport Marriott was unbeatable—steps from the wharf, the beautiful ‘Point’ neighborhood and the central transport hub. The bell staff were friendly and welcoming, and the public space invited lingering. Our 7th floor room had a grand view of the ballpark across the street, and was otherwise spacious, clean and well-appointed. The elevators were efficient (not always the case in busy hotels). Our stay was marred only by the guests in the next room, who apparently fell asleep with their television (which abutted our bed’s headboard) blaring. Their inconsiderate behavior made restful sleep impossible. Would that their fortunes were dependent on these reviews.

Great staff and Concierge We had a great stay. Pros- Comfortable and modern rooms. Great shower aka water pressure Location is within walking distance to the main tourist areas They have a Les Clef d’Or Concierge on staff. Her name is Meredith and she is a gem. Go see her to help you with your trip. All staff was friendly. Laura from the FD was very helpful on check in. My only feedback is they should message the room if you get a package. There was some confusion if we had a package but they found it.

Dirty and Disappointing Spent a dirty and disappointing long weekend here. We paid over $2000 for three nights stay. Arrived late in the evening looking to shower and rest and there was no soap in the room. Left early the next day and asked at the front desk for soap when the maid cleaned. Arrived home late the second day to dirty room and still no soap. Left after a long weekend and the room had never been cleaned.

Under Achieving Property in a Great Location We arrived at 1 PM and needed to wait for our room …after a call to return at 230 PM we came back and there were 15 people in line to check in Two people were there with another lady walking around with coffee who went in back .One of the people checking in was dealing with complaints of a customer We did receive a coupon for breakfast and a $10 food or beverage credit .. So much for status as after a very long walk to the back corner of the hotel overlooking the parking garage, we found a very nice room. Clean and quality appointments including a large flat screen. The room itself was first class but no balcony I spent ½ hour trying to access Wi Fi at 6 AM and internet was really slow the whole time we were there The Fitness center was excellent .. We tried to get seated at Skyft twice with no luck .We used the $10 credit to take drinks to go … Good news is there is a Panera across the street Very surprised to be asked if we had a reservation for Main Sail breakfast …what ?? never heard that before in 1500 nights in hotels .No mention or suggestion on check in . The Coffee bar had no breakfast sandwiches so we did not use the coupon We did ask and received a one hour delay in checkout On checkout the same long wait with another guest complaining about his room location using points .Get in line behind me buddy I paid for my room, I gave back the breakfast coupon to the lady who checked me out .No apology or adjustment made This place is in a great location and that why they get $500 a night but I don’t think its deserved as they are not prepared to accommodate all guests during peak demand My tip if you go in July expect a challenged property and overworked overwhelmed staff Particularly behind the front desk

Very good hotel with excellent location The hotel is very nice with excellent location in Newport. The balcony room facing the atrium is a plus and it feels great to relax there. The room was clean and food was delicious. The only thing is that the price is very high for a Marriott hotel.
