Very happy with our stay! We travel as 2adults no children no pets. The desk clerk let us look at the room first and it was perfect for our needs, and probably the best rate in town. Always ask the rate first but some of the better rates are online, which you can book in the lobby. Our room (104) was perfect everything was clean, hardwood floors and updated. The bath and shower were clean even the doors, which typically get missed in a lot of hotels. I really wish I had taken pictures of it. There was a refrigerator and a single bed, plus it was spacious. Perfect for a single night or a few days! There was lots of parking even for tractor trailers, boaters or campers! Restaurants nearby and easily walkable! I recommend this place highly and would definitely stay again. There’s no frills but we just needed a place for the night and that was what we got here!

Motel 6 is better When we first walked in, the first thing that we noticed was the extremely strong odor of fabuloso cleaner. Now don't get me wrong, a clean hotel is nice, yes, but when it's so overwhelming of a smell it makes you gag, there is an issue. The lady at the front desk wasn’t very friendly. When she checked my ID, she took it in her hands and bent it, as if it was fake. The door handle only opens if you lift up on the handle. To fully shut the door, you have to use all your weight to close it from inside. You have to pull it hard from outside. The bed sits only a few feet off the floor. The beds at Motel 6 sit higher. The pillows were flat yet had lumps in them. The bed leaned to one side like it had been laid in on one side only. The sheets had stains on them. The ceiling in the shower had extreme water damage. The microwave was tiny. It didn't even fit a regular sized bag of popcorn. The continental breakfast was highly disappointing.

No Wifi and Tobacco Smell Everywhere I couldn't get any wifi working. The prompt page wouldn't show up on my devices and it was spotty when it did show up. I don't require much from 1 night stays, but don't advertise wifi if it doesn't even work. Had a non-smoking room and it still smelled like tobacco, especially in the halls. The bathrooms are also too dark and there's no light over the shower. Nice customer service, but other amenities are definitely laking.

Cheap is rarely worth the money Start to finish, horrible experience. Firstly, no real notion of a welcoming front door. Reception was not welcoming. I had extended our stay directly for the first night and used Expedia for the second night. First I was told I would have to change rooms. Hindsight, that may not have been a horrible idea. Then she changed it to “you’ll have to come to the desk and have your key rekeyed”. We were directed to our room. We found it down a dark dank hallway. Our room has flooring of luxury vinyl tile and bugs. My husband killed a large spider within minutes. Ok, we can gut it out one night and find something the next day. We were about to leave our room and hubby checked the window. It was unlocked and we are on ground floor. Would have taken nothing to break into our room. With our room secured we left for dinner. We found the doors to the outside were also unsecure although there is a key card slot for “looks”. Didn’t return until 10:00 and found children running the halls, in and out of rooms, unsupervised. That actually didn’t stop for hours. Temp of the room was difficult to control, not that it was a difficult AC unit, it just modulated cold and warm. Bathroom…who hangs a suspended ceiling in a small poorly ventilated bathroom? Sagging of the ceiling would have been the exclamation point of the horrible experience but the curly fluorescent exposed light bulb hanging off the bathroom wall was the highlight. DO NOT STAY HERE! We need one more night in central Iowa and will lose money changing hotels but will be well worth it.

Only Stayed 1/2 Night!! I stayed here for an event in town. I quickly checked in, dropped my stuff off and left for the evening. I returned hours later and the room had an odd smell. The air was not working very well. The bed is only a few feet off the floor. It was uncomfortable. The hotel is in a decent location with food choices close by. I will choose elsewhere next time I am in town.
