Hotel stay Booked a King but only had Queen rooms available when I checked in so ended up in a Queen bed. One of the nightstand lamps had faulty wire and seemed a little dangerous. Two star hotel but good value for money given proximity to NYC and free parking

Closed I am currently staying across the street at the Best Western. Parking lot is cordoned off and empty. Property is currently closed. I am not sure if it is being renovated, or just closed. There are no contractor vehicles or obvious renovations taking place.

Make the best out of it stayed here for 7days, thought I can save money staying outside of manhatten but opposite was the case. it looks easy on the map but the location is so akward that all taxis and ubers have hard time to find the access road. After first shock I wanted to book something else but I decided to make the best out of it. Some reviews are a bit over the top. Here is what I found and how you can survive here. Every floor seems different, in some there is very old dirty carpeting in hall in other floors ceramic tiles. Everything is old. The elevator make sounds like they will fall apart anytime. In room: spacious, bedding ok, tv was ok, hot water ok, bath tub witout lid so I had to stuff it with plastic bags to take a bath. Aircon worked if you dare to try it. Windowframe had holes and cold wind entered room. WiFi seems not to work but it works if you go close the entrance door, there signal is good so I ended up sitting on the floor to brownse internet. Had a smoking room for start and then moved to non smoking. Try to get a room not facing the main road, the noise is rather disturbing due to old window frames. Hairdryer was broken. Housekeeping was good, every day even when we go out late, good job. All staff seemed not motivated probably bored from daily complaints which they are not to blame for. Shuttle service is good (15dollar one way, 20return) always ontime, helpful yet quiet driver. you need to book the time which sometimes leaves you in regret or cancel and take taxi or uber, Taxi cost between 55and70dollar, uber 35to45 average. be ready to help the driver find the way. From downtown you can take bus from St.Authority bus station for 3,5dollar. but need to walk to hotel 10minutes. Breakfast choice was standard BUT very long queue due to not enough seating and served all with PLASTIC CUTTLERY AND PLATES. After first day we did not bother and walked to nearby TachoBell for Bfast. Can also use Grubhub to deliver easily to hotel. Explored the surroundings. There are fast food options down the road, ALDI 10min walk up and a old shopping area 15min walk with lot of shops. North bergen not worth the while, one road dirty with spanish speaking majority, dirty and creepy town. If you go , eat at the four Star diner. Would not recommend stay here except you not spoiled, good with fix schedule using the shutlle bus or bring ur own car (free parking), unless you end up spend more money than booking a more expensive hotel downtown. Look for something cheap downtown near a subway and you will be so much more flexible all times and also save money in the end.

Do not stay here This was my 1st time staying outside the city, and it seemed like a good option bc it had a shuttle. DON’T do it! The shuttle is a pain- you must buy tickets at least an hour ahead from the gift shop & the attendant isn’t even there half the time. The location is AWFUL for alternative transportation: cost of Uber is absurd & took over an hour to get anywhere, made us miss 2 reservations. There is no PATH station nearby nor ferry, only bus routes you have to Uber/walk to. The hotel’s front door was “broken” (how a front entrance to a hotel goes unfixed is beyond me) & Ubers couldn’t figure out how to get to the side so we had to walk through the rain to get in any. Upon arrival, there was something in our bed that looked like a sex toy. We called front desk, yet they never sent anyone. I had to go down & show pictures. He gave no apology, just said “it’s a tool of some kind” & didn’t offer to do anything until I requested a room change bc the sheets clearly weren’t changed. The continental breakfast you cant even take upstairs to your room. We had to be somewhere early- just wanted to eat while we got ready but weren’t allowed. There is only one ice machine, you have to go to another floor just to get ice. The phone in our second room (after being moved) was legitimately cracked and did not work. On checkout day, we requested late checkout but still had the maid service burst into our room without even announcing who it was. Overall the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I have never in my life written a bad review, but this was just terrible and really put a damper on our weekend. Think twice before you stay here.

Cheap but never again After a flight over the Atlantic and a 2 hour drive from JFK we arrived at the hotel. It’s that I was so tired that I chose not to go find another hotel. I was shocked. The furniture was old, the place did not look clean at all. The bed was made up with sheets that were too small. Breakfast was just average. Only reason you could consider to stay here is that it’s cheap and there is a shuttle service to manhattan for only 30 bucks. But for me, never again
