A decent hotel undergoing major upgrade getting better all the time. I recently stayed at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charleston Airport Hotel and Convention Center and had a mix of positive and challenging experiences. **Arrival and Check-In** Arriving late, I was pleased to find the front desk friendly and helpful. They quickly informed me about breakfast hours, the location of the elevator, and let me know I could return for a plastic room key later since they were in the middle of the night audit. Thankfully, my app worked for room access. My room was on the 7th floor and had a welcoming, spacious layout with a large living area, kitchenette, modern bathroom, and a separate bedroom. **Room Amenities and Comfort** The room itself was impressive, with ample seating in the living area, including a sofa (which pulls out to a bed), a kitchen-style table, and multiple convenient power outlets with USB/USB-C adapters. Notably, the plug above the table in the living room area had been upgraded to include two USB ports and one USB-C port, which was a modern convenience. The modern bathroom featured a cultured marble sink, though the bathtub showed signs of wear, including rust at the bottom. The bedroom featured two queen beds, a desk, and plenty of storage space. There was a TV in both the bedroom and the living room, adding extra comfort and entertainment options. Additionally, the overhead light in the bedroom was an older CFL bulb that took a long time to warm up, providing very little light initially. All the lamps in the room by the sofa, table, dresser/desk area in the bedroom, and bedside included USB, USB-C, and AC outlets, which I found incredibly convenient. The curtains in the bedroom worked perfectly, making the room completely pitch black if the clock is covered—a big plus for light-sensitive sleepers. A safety note for families: the window in the bedroom opens fully, without a screen or barrier, leaving a large opening that could be risky, especially for children. **Housekeeping and Coffee Service** After my first night, I requested additional regular coffee pods and some creamer at the front desk as I was leaving for the day, since my room only had decaf and tea. While housekeeping promptly left a bag at my door, it contained two regular coffee pods, more decaf, and tea but no creamer. I wish the hotel would focus on items most guests use, as I doubt many drink the provided tea. The breakfast buffet was decent, though limited. However, the hotel only offers coffee through instant coffee machines, and no coffee is available outside of breakfast hours. When I looked for a cup around 7:00 p.m., there was none to be found. Most hotels make coffee available all day, and given the convenience of their instant machines, it wouldn’t require staff involvement to provide coffee at all hours. **Construction and Noise Issues** The hotel is undergoing construction, a fact that wasn’t mentioned during booking. My room was directly above and possibly below the construction zone, resulting in early morning wake-ups to hammering, drilling, and other loud noises. Working in the room during the day was challenging due to the continuous noise. If I’d known about the construction and its impact, I might have reconsidered my stay or chosen a different room location. **Amenities and Evening Reception** Embassy Suites offers several amenities like a pool, fitness center, and a $10 per vehicle parking fee, though I was never asked about a vehicle or provided with a parking pass, so I’m unsure if I was charged. There’s also a daily evening reception from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., but it was a disappointment. It consisted of multicolored tortilla chips, salsa, and a vegetable tray. With no beverages or coffee available, it didn’t feel like a proper reception and left much to be desired. One staff member stood out for providing excellent customer service. During the reception, I asked an employee, who had just clocked out, if there was coffee available. She went out of her way to check, even though the machines were off, and later directed me to a nearby Starbucks as she was leaving. Her kindness and willingness to help reflected true dedication. **Conclusion** While the Embassy Suites offers some modern conveniences and friendly staff, the presence of construction noise, limited coffee availability, and a few modest amenities made this stay somewhat mixed. Guests may want to confirm construction details and coffee options ahead of time if these are key to their stay experience.

Construction zone!! Stay Away!! They say they are "renovating " Don't believe it!! It's a construction zone!!! Jack hammers going off, and loud banging. From 8am to 6pm. The hotel should be closed for this type of reconstruction. Oh, and they have the audacity to charge you $10 a day for parking. When talking to people at the front desk, they apologized and handed us ear plugs. YES EAR PLUGS!!

Overall, a nice stay. My wife and I stayed after attending a local concert, having booked this 6 months ago. I really dislike their corporate call center after trying to call and kept on hold for 13 minutes while awaiting word if our room was ready. We just drove on over and registered. The room was nice, with nice amenities with all electrical functions working. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The complementary breakfast was good. Parking is not complementary. Overall, we would stay again, but the corporate call center was pretty worthless in trying to get any local answers to your questions.

Needs Work The room, 301, did not have any USB ports installed. You would have been out of luck if you didn't have a power adapter. The hotel's choice of DirectTV over Cable meant that popular streaming channels like YouTube and Netflix were unavailable. In my experience with hotels undergoing construction or renovation, their websites inform customers that such work is scheduled for their selected dates. This gives customers the information to determine if they want to deal with noise during their stay. This hotel had ongoing renovation work on the floor above me, but they only notified me after I arrived. They should have put a splash page on their website, either under their Hilton or their own site. This was very annoying as the work went from 08:00 to 18:00.
