Rare 5-point review This hotel gets a rare 5-point review. It takes a lot for me to give 5 points to a hotel. What you'll love. - 20th floor room has amazing view of the Port of Oakland and the SF Bay. - Nice room with well-placed sofa, right next to the panoramic view. - Comfortable bed with just-right covers. I hate an over-warm comforter. - Outstanding front desk staff and friendly front-door security. - Convenient self-parking, but overpriced. - Fast elevators that always seem to be waiting on your floor. - Excellent, consistent housekeeping. 5 nights without one housekeeping mistake. - BEST OF ALL: Free self-service laundry on the 4th floor. Free detergent and fabric softener. - Ultra-fast wifi for a ELITE member. - Some nice restaurants nearby. - BART (Metro) station outside the front door. Excellent option for San Francisco tourists. Why stay in San Francisco when you can get from hear to there in 10 minutes? What you might not like. - Strong marijuana smell in elevators, parking, hallways, and outside the front door. - $45 per night parking. - No upgrade for a Titanium Elite member. I've been staying in Marriot hotels for the past three weeks while my home is remodeled. This was the best. Avoid the Marriott Marquis in SF. Stay here instead.

Location was great, if not for COVID lockdowns I got this hotel for a work trip as this was closest to the workplace I was going to be basing myself for a week, plus, it would be an easy drive there without having to navigate the sometimes confusing downtown streets. The hotel served its purpose - a decent room with good air conditioning. It didn't have a refrigerator in it and the space was cramped compared to more modern Marriott properties. That said, the room was dated compared to some of the other properties. Wi-fi was good and the city view was lovely from where I was at. Conveniently located near the BART station if you wanted to go around BUT when I was there, it was still peak of all COVID lockdowns so there wasn't much and everything I ate was delivered to me. I can imagine what a great situation this would have been in better times. What I did not like - there was some (probably) drunk guy banging on the door of the room a few doors down at 4AM. Hallways reeked of marijuana at times, and 2 of the 4 nights, some cops came in the lobby for some incident, then a 911 call. Yes, people are gonna say "It's Oakland" but I always give places the benefit of the doubt.

Bathroom smelled like cigarettes, staff did nothing. Pretty average full service Marriott. The lounge/restaurant was good for breakfast and a drink with colleagues at the end of the work day. Below average customer service otherwise. When I checked in I noticed a very strong cigarette smell in the room’s bathroom. There’s no smoke detector in there, so it presented an opportunity for someone to smoke without getting caught. I reported this to the front desk on the first day of a 3 day stay. Nothing was done about it. It was a very busy workweek for me, so I didn’t get to follow up. I complained to Marriott afterwards and received a generic apology. Would recommend trying another hotel if you have the option. Next time I’m Oakland I plan to try the Moxy (I’m loyal to Marriott when I can be).

Good location & room size Spent 3 nights here over the course of a week while visiting folks around the area. Each check in experience went quickly & seamlessly, and the rooms were always clean and ready. The hotel itself was pretty quiet, which is always appreciated, with lovely views of the bay & hills. Unlike some other hotels I have stayed in recently, they do thankfully have in room coffee makers, as well as coffee available on the 2nd floor in the morning. The lounge is still closed and I was given breakfast vouchers instead (they went unused, I didn't have an opportunity to go to the restaurant/bar). Parking is in the convention center garage, pay for parking through the hotel to get in & out privileges. I wouldn't suggest street parking unless you don't care very much about your car - the surrounding neighborhood is really the only downside to this hotel. It is perfectly fine during the day, but gets a bit rough at night. Overall, a very solid hotel and well located for getting around the greater Bay Area, we will definitely stay again.

lovely service, great location for a's games one night couple stay for pleasure, marriott titanium elite; came to town to watch the tigers take on the a's and couldn't have picked a better location. the front desk agents, both on check in and check out, were outstanding. i'm remiss in not getting their names because their service was notable. warm and sincere welcome, great explanation of the covid protocols and the hotel layout on check in. wonderful bag service and a sincere inquiry as to how the stay was. room was very well equipped and bed was comfy. nearby bart station made getting from the airport as well as to and from the stadium a breeze. lots of restaurants nearby also. all around lovely stay.
