A gem! Hotel appeared to be brand new. Friendly staff. Recommended. I am a UK traveller. I was travelling around the north US booking hotels for the evening stay, in the afternoon using BOOKING dot COM app.
I booked the hotel on the Sunday afternoon, as it was in an area reasonably close to where I was. I got a great rate, presumably because it was Sunday, in fact it was the cheapest stay of my entire 2 week vacation.
The hotel is located just off a freeway (as is common) and has various eateries and a gas station immediately nearby (as is common).
From the outside it wasn't anything special, but when I entered, I thought "wow, this must be a brand new hotel". I was impressed by the reception area.
I was greeted by a young lady who was very friendly, and intrigued by my British accent. We had a pleasant chat while I was check in. So a great first impression.
As I went to my room , the carpets were modern and iimmacualte and I continued to think "new hotel". When I entered the room I was very pleased. I t was a lovely modern immaculately clean room with nice bathroom. TV and furnishings were all modern. In particular the air conditioning unit was in tip top shape, unlike what I found in other hotels where flaps were falling off or there was dust.
I walked to the nearby Taco-Bell to buy food. Very convenient.
The breakfast was also very good, as good as if not slightly better than any other brand/chain I stayed at. Once again the breakfast area looked immaculately clean and well maintained.
As I left breakfast I asked the lady at reception "how old is the hotel?". I was shocked to hear that it used to be a Comfort Inn and had been renovated. Nevertheless I got a positive impression from her with respect to their attitude towards maintainance of the hotel.
The only minor issue was that I did have problems with WiFi, in that YouTube videos would freeze. I did mention this to the lady at reception, and she did acknowledge that they were aware of this and had been chasing up providers to get iit sorted out.
I would very happily stay at this hotel again, without hesitation, if I was in this area.
Value for money it was off the charts during my stay (but it was Sunday when I think rates are lower). It was as nice internally as any other hotel at which I stayed during my vacation and ironically was the cheapest!!!

Do not Recommend, Shody remodel job Holiday Inn Express' are usually great properties but this one was terrible. Looks like it's been recently renovated but it was a shoddy job in the room we stayed in. Walking in the hallway on the second floor you can feel the unevenness below the carpet. The tile in the bathroom and by the door were rocking back and forth with many cracked already. The grout was cracked and flaking off and it felt almost like they didn't level the floor and put thin set below them. More rocked when walked on than didn't.
Then we tried to watch a little TV before bed and the connection was awful. We've had this dish service before and when it storms bad you can expect some skipping, buffering and freezing but this was constant. Every 20-30 seconds and the weather outside was perfect. This went on all night and we mentioned to the front desk and they said they would send the maintenance man up. We got back to the hotel 8+ hours later and it smelled terrible like someone had used our bathroom while we were gone. And the TV still acted up all night. Every channel. Turned off and on, twisted the plug connection... nothing helped.
The doors shut quickly when opened without having some kind of cushion to stop the loud banging sound. We stayed at the same time as a large group of families with elementary aged kids so the doors were opening and closing constantly. Bang, bang, bang... So loud.
The shower faucet is so loose, it moved more than 1/4 inch. The sink faucet moved when you tried to turn it on.
There was a stain on the shower ceiling that they tried to cover up with paint. Looks like mold maybe?
The breakfast was good. The location is perfect, right off the highway.
If I could have found a different hotel nearby for our second night we would have moved.

Great stay, close to where we wanted to be and great rates! In town for 3 days of the Airshow at Rickenbacker, which was 5 or 10 minutes away, very convenient. Hotel itself was clean and in good shape. Continental breakfast as good as any and was just right for us. Staff seemed friendly. Gas station and a few fast food options nearby. Pricing was great, right off the interstate so you could occasionally hear traffic but it wasn't terrible. I would certainly stay there again. Only issue was those magnetic door locks, took 3 swipes every time to get into the room... never mentioned it to the desk because it was a minor thing.

Terrific Stay. Pleasantly Surprised. Will stay again. I had a great stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Obetz. I was pleasantly surprised at the modernness of the room, the lighting and how clean it was. It was very quiet at night on the second floor. I was also surprised that even though it’s a sizable hotel with three floors, they remembered what room I was in and offered a very personalized service. I arrived early from Boston and the woman at the front desk acted immediately in getting me into a room early. The breakfast was a winner. Like my co worker said - it would be very easy for them to just put everything out at 6:30 and thats it, but they replenished throughout the morning so the eggs were fresh and the sausage wasn’t dried out from sitting in a warming tray. One of the managers even did me a personal favor when I was in a pinch and did my laundry. My only issue was that I requested my room cleaned while I was there, towels replenished. They did it the first day (with a reminder) but forgot to the second day. Other than that, I’ll absolutely be staying there again and so will all the people associated with my office when we are in the area. A great experience.

friendly and efficient with great breakfast spread I’ll admit I was a bit worried. We have not stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in many years, but location was ideal for the family visit. Exterior of hotel could use some work and seemed a little neglected. But, winter is just now ending so I give them a break on that.
The hotel was clean. Staff were efficient and friendly and eager to make our stay pleasant.
The breakfast was done nicely and delicious, as good or better than Hilton and Marriott…
Would stay there again.
