STAFF
Courteous, gracious, friendly, informative: 100% of the Tapatio staff with whom we interacted genuinely loved their jobs. Wait staff, (at restaurants and pools), bartenders, spa services, housekeeping, room service, registration, golf cart drivers, and roaming maintenance we happened to encounter; all had a cheerful demeanor and genuine appreciation for/about their jobs. In terns of human encounters, while a guest at Tapatio you’re likely to be impressed.
The gents who piloted our golf carts to deliver us to A Different Pointe of View restaurant at the top of the peak were like tour guides - only if prompted, mind you, from whom we learned:
- 100% of the mattresses resort-wide had been replaced within the last year and
- wifi/internet cables were recently buried delivering reliable (weather resistant), internet resort-wide.
DINING
The elevation of A Different Point of View restaurant affords an unparalleled and panoramic vantage point of the surrounding mountains and city, particularly stunning for sunset and after the city lights up (it's a spectacular light show)!
Fine dining at its best, the varied menu at A Different Pointe of View includes amongst the usual surf and turf: bone marrow, lamb lollipops, pork belly, shrimp tempura, seared tuna, the best gnocchi and crab cakes I've ever had; all beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. Partnered with a comprehensive wine list, excellent wait staff and the fabulous views, A Different Pointe of View is an experience worth seeking.
A Pointe in Thyme restaurant has great sandwiches (the French Dip was PERFECT), great fries, wings, the creamiest spinach artichoke dip I have ever had, and an impressive array of beers on tap in addition to a comfortable and inviting environment.
We weren’t able to take advantage of the entirety of the sprawling 450 acre resort but what we did was impressive.
COMMON AREAS & COURTYARDS
Spacious, comfortable and inviting; the ambiance of the resort is elevated casual and stylish.
Pool areas boast comfortable seating with traditional loungers, side tables, deep seating patio sectional sofas, tables and chairs, ample umbrellas / shade, private, reservable cabanas, pool towels.
*Seating is equipped with QR hangtags so regardless of where you locate, or re-locate your chair, the wait staff will be able to find you!
SPA
"Full Service" seems like a bit of an understatement because they offer salon hair styling and blowout services as well as kids' haircuts! The comfortable and soothing environment includes indoor and outdoor wait area seating and ADA access ramp. Services Include: Facials (customized, hydrating, regenerative); Massage ( Swedish, deep tissue, maternity, couples and hot stone); the full compliment of mani/pedi options; Body wrap treatments to which there are add-ons like scalp, hand or foot treatments all within comfortable and private treatment rooms.
A selection of jewelry, impressive skin-care lines and slip-on mules are available for purchase, all well-merchandised given limited space.
LACKING - not much, but a few things could stand improvement, such as:
ROOM SERVICE - doesn't offer desserts, but the limited menu covers the basics including on-site brick oven pizza which was killer (great crust). The service was down-right speedy, our food still piping hot upon delivery.
GIFT SHOP
We were at the resort about 8 years ago at which time the gift shop tended toward ‘boutique’ and it’s now more ‘convenience store’, kind of over-crowded and a bit overwhelming with close and IMHO, ill-conceived aisles/layout not conducive to “shopping” and it lacked the “gift” category, could use a selection of resort-branded items (I wanted a ball cap with Tapatio on it!), fewer backpacks, better macro space planning & elevated merchandising.
That's all I got and if you've read this far, I'm sorry we're not golfers but those among our group who were said the course was fantastic. We also did not enjoy the water slide, darn it!
