Hidden fees and rashes. Bedbugs? Putting it simply - hidden fees and rashes. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. My partner and I booked a PNW vacation and stayed here for 4 nights. Advertised and PREpaid a little over $80/night. When we arrived - they very POORLY described a $30 additional fee for some kind of “destination fee”. When explained initially, it sounded like the fee was already paid and we would receive some kind of credit to their “snack bar” also credit for the restaurant and bar that wasn’t even open and accessible. They also took our card for a $100 charge in case of incident that was later applied to these “destination fees”. This seems like poor billing practice and DECEITFUL. On top of the lack of description and overcharging us for something we didn’t want, the shower was having maintenance issues. It either had to be very hot or very cold to keep the pipes from shaking. Not a very relaxing hotel experience. My partner doesn’t like to ruffle feathers so we decided not to say anything. This was a mistake. I also noticed I developed a rash after staying there. It formed about 2 days into the trip. I don’t typically have sensitive skin but assumed it could be associated with the cleaning products they use. I took an antihistamine which would typically help any reaction and they are still there which leads me to believe they may have a bedbug problem! When attempting to get to the bottom of these charges, we were never given access to any kind of supervisor or manager. It was very clear based on the staffs reaction that this is something that happens often and we are not the first or only to have issues with this “destination fee” 0/10 would not recommend.

Forth of July weekend and no manager, who does that? The worst place I've ever stayed. Valet wrecked my car and then joked about it! The hotel manager has never spoken to me and refused to talk to me or compensate me for any of my time or money! There is no refrigerator or microwave in the rooms you have to request them I've never heard of that in my life! Also it says they have a breakfast there not true coffee in the lobby is NOT BREAKFAST. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy!

Go, See, Experience!!!! I loved everything about this hotel. The rich historical charm mixed with the quirky details won me over. The beautiful rooms and comfy beds were a plus. The fantastic staff were helpful, kind and friendly. A must stay hotel!!!! Can’t wait to go back again.

Light fixture fell off the wall I’m just trying to get the word out for anyone who is looking for hotel in Portland to AVOID THIS HOTEL!! In addition to outdated room and foul smell, we are concerned about the structure integrity of the fixtures in this place. We checked out of this hotel and discovered that we had a huge charge for cleaning fee, which surprised us because it was just 3 of us, 2 adults and a well-behaved 2 year old. Come to find out, they charged us for the light fixture above the bathroom sink, it had fallen down onto the sink. Everything looked fine when we checked out and my daughter had been sitting on the countertop to access the sink in the morning before we checked out to wash up and watch me get ready for the day. To think that the light fixture could’ve fallen down any minute and had it fallen any earlier my two year old could’ve been sitting right where it landed made my stomach churn. And the hotel trying to pass on the fee to us as a cleaning fee made me so angry. I’m so grateful and mad at the same time, grateful nothing happened to us and mad at the irresponsibility and lack of transparency of the hotel by charging us a cleaning service when their facility is falling apart and putting us in danger. So please avoid this hotel, it may look nice in the lobby but that’s about it.

Amazing Experience During CrowdStrike! Outstanding experience with my entire stay here during an extremely stressful CrowdStrike gate 2024. The front desk agent (morning shift and I apologize for forgetting her name but, she’s awesome!) was absolutely amazing and was able to get me into a beautiful room immediately after a long day of travel. Rooms were unique, stylish and very comfortable. The bed was amazing and the room was extremely quiet. Thank you to the entire Royal Sonesta team for being there for me in a time of need!
