A very nice hotel but needs to pay more attention to detail I stayed here for a week to attend a friend’s wedding. To focus on the positive - a very quaint hotel with a nice decor and feel to the interior, a lovely courtyard restaurant with excellent food ( at the pricier end of the scale); nice spa, quieter location away from the crowds, great breakfast choice, porter was extremely helpful, nice to have conditioner as well as shampoo, and the touch of having free wine tasting at 16.30 is really appreciated. What was a bit of a challenge for me were some of the details - I initially had a deluxe double room which was really perfect for me and when I extended my stay for an extra few days due to unexpected change of circumstances I was told I could stay in it but later that day I was told I had to move to accommodate a disabled guest which was understandable but a nuisance to move. I was upgraded to the very nice Royal Suite so that helped smooth things over. Unfortunately it is on the 3rd floor and the lift was having issues so I had to use the stairs - these things happen but it was tiring. What was really annoying though was that the hotel restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday night so if you stay on those nights you have to find alternatives which isn’t really what I expect from a 5 star hotel a little out of the centre. The pool was pretty but more of a plunge pool than for swimming. The service was a bit hit and miss with the porter and breakfast staff really good and the evening staff a bit more variable. I would stay here again but maybe not on a Sunday or a Monday as you can’t eat in the hotel and options nearby are limited and I would wary of extending a stay (especially on booking but they offered the best rates. I think if they close the restaurant the least they can do is have the bar open with some lighter food so that you can at least get something on a Sunday or Monday night without having to go out.

Friendly luxury The Alchymist Grand Hotel really enhanced our trip to Prague. We arrived early from the US and the wonderful staff swiftly took care of our luggage, gave us drinks and access to the unique spa and its facilities, which we used to freshen up before going out to explore. We had a 2-story family suite, and it was beautiful, updated and charming. Fantastic views and furnishings, two large, luxurious bathrooms, and the rooms and bathrooms were kept immaculately clean each day. The air conditioning was robust and worked perfectly. We looked forward each day to our interactions with the lovely staff at breakfast. The decor is impressive but the people are warm and friendly. It felt like we were coming "home" each night at the end of our touring days. It's a nice quiet location (American embassy next door) that is close to the Bridge and Castle but not "too" quiet. It is quite a unique place, and if I ever get to Prague again, this is where I'd stay!

Charming classic luxury hotel in Prague We stayed at the Alchymist for a family vacation from the US and arrived here from Paris . We are a family kid four including two kids 8 and 5 and got the family suite. The hotel is very charming and beautiful. It truly feels like you are transported back in time to a palace from at least a 100 years ago. The charm does mean the hotel is somewhat dated and while the lobby areas are very pretty the room was more dated but still a charming overall (not a bad thing just what one should expect). We were hoping to have dinner at Acquarius but there was a mix up where the staff didn’t inform us it would be closed the day we arrived (Sunday). We did eat breakfast there each morning at Acquarius and it was quite good. Overall a charming hotel, in a decent location (pros and cons of being across from the US embassy). The spa was also good.

A 5-star amazing hotel in Prague Pictures worth 1,000 words. Take a quick look at my YouTube video review titled, "Full tour of the Alchymist Grand Hotel & Spa in Prague, – the place to stay when in Prague!" Put title in the search box. The hotel is amazing and feels like you step back in time when you walk in. Everything is just so beautiful. Great breakfast with outstanding coffee and a large selection. The spa is out of this world if you are looking for that. Each evening they have a complementary wine bar which is a great way to meet others. The room had a great bed, fully stocked mini bar, television (nothing in English) and on and on. The location is perfect and is super easy walking distance to restaurants, bars, shops, and the bridge. It is located next door to the American Embassy so there are plenty of police around also. Highly recommended.
