Beautiful Property In The Sacramento Suburbs We stayed here in mid March. We had just driven all the way to LA from BC only to turn right back home due to Covid, we stayed here on our way home and spent the day in Sacramento so we could at least say we did something in California other than drive! The hotel is about 15 minutes from Downtown Sacramento (an amazing city that I don't think gets enough credit for tourism, it's really pleasant!). The property is older but nicely kept with a beautiful outdoor swimming pool and nice common areas. We got upgraded to a huge suite which consisted of a large bedroom with two queen beds and then an absolutely massive living room, the suite was probably at least 1000 sq. feet all in but even just the bedroom was larger than usual so I'm thinking that maybe even the standard rooms are larger than most. We had dinner at the restaurant, Formagi. They had just updated their menu and there was some confusion about it, my daughter has celiac disease and can't eat gluten but they had things labelled gluten free that did have gluten and vice versa! In fairness they were very friendly about figuring it out. The food was pretty decent but the menu was tiny and the drinks were incredibly pricey. We also had breakfast there and it was really good and very reasonable for a hotel restaurant. Keep in mind that there's also a Starbucks in the lobby which was appreciated. I really liked the look of the pool although it was too cold to use it. We'd definitely come back especially in the Summer.

Mold infested shower, filthy rooms & hotel, no response from Management Worst experience at a Marriot (or any other) hotel ever. Mold in the shower, broken glass on the light, dirty hallways, it took hotel staff three different rooms to settle is into a "clean" one (which was the worst with mold). The rooms did not appear to be properly cleaned, there was some kind of object protruding from beneath the sheets (we slept in sleeping bags on top of the bed). Still have not heard back from management and this experience was more than a month ago!

Much better choices I really feel bad about a bad review with all the hospitality industry is having to endure right now but this was a bad experience, specifically because of what is going on right now. To be honest I’m not sure why this hotel was ever built. It’s technically full service ... pool (no ambiance, literally a few yards off the the freeway), restaurant, Starbucks, meeting space....although the restaurant is not open or even offering room service, presumably as a a result of Covid, which is understandable. The Starbucks is only open 8-1. The odd thing is this hotel is in a very industrial area, nothing around but warehouses and light industrial businesses. Can’t imagine a full service program in this area ever made sense. But I assume the initial developer/owner had high hopes. Oh well. The reception staff was great - cheerful, professional and efficient. The biggest blemish of this property as a practical matter for guest though is maintenance and cleanliness. The property has obvious received no updates or refreshments in many years (very creative or dated photos on the Marriott website). The furnishings, fixtures and finishes are at least 2000’a if not 90’s genre. The grounds, parking areas are literally crumbling. But aside from all that the room did not seem clean at all. The most glaring issue was the carpet. I literally considered leaving and going down the the street to lesser but newer flag. The carpet is literally disgusting to the point of feeling unsafe (see pics). The rest of the room elements weren’t as bad but not much better. Given that my stay was literally about 10 hours I stayed....never took my socks off other than to shower though. Really surprised this property is still allowed a full “Marriott” flag designation .... must have been an iron clad long term operator agreement. Much better lower flags in market radius.

NOT SAFE!!! I stayed in the hotel on Aug 14-15. The walls and curtain of the shower were full of hair. Broken glass on the floor of the shower and dry food on the bedroom carpet. Had to leave, but I reported it all to the front desk. They promised to clean or provide a new room. I came back at night. The shower was clean, but one small piece of glass was still on the shower floor, and the food on the carpet was not touched. I think the first time can be a human mistake. The second time is dangerous.

Would Come Back The hotel is located in a pretty convenient spot off the freeway. There were also lots of nearby fast food choices to eat. In terms of following Covid-19 CDC guidelines, the hotel did seem to follow them quite strictly in terms of spacing and mask wearing, even the elevator was limited to 2 people on each trip. I found the check-in staff very friendly despite being a little understaffed. My room was clean and well maintained. There was a large TV and a comfortable bed. I had a minor complaint in that the hair dryer's on off switch did not work and I had to plug it in and out at the wall to turn it on and off. I also would have thought that my room would have a room safe, common for many hotels, it did not. The pool area was small but clean and quite cozy. The little waterfall was a nice touch. I don't think this is a 5 star hotel but I would not hesitate to come back if I were in the area.
