Great staff, clean rooms, good location. Poor ac system causing rooms to be extremely humid and no cups are provided. We stayed at the St Augustine Spark. Rooms were clean and large and staff was excellent. Beds were comfortable .Great location. These are the issues...rooms are extremely humid, everything is constantly damp. There are no cups in the room to use in the bathroom. We had to go downstairs to the breakfast room to get cups to use. Should be called the Sparse hotel not Spark. This is Hiltons low,low economy hotel

Horrible, Horrible Place. Horrible, Horrible Place. They were kicked out of Choice Hotel Chain under the name, "Country Inn & Suites by Radisson". Renamed "Spark by Hilton". I tried to warn Hilton of Awful management who is Araceli. After checking in, I smelled cigarette smoke, was not offered another room, and checked out within 15 minutes. They refused to give me a refund, threatened to call the police, calling me names, and lying. As I was leaving, there were other guests (two different couples) outside the door who were trying to figure out what to do as they had a very similar experience as mine. Some of the reviews online sounded a little over the top and unbelievable. Since my experience, I totally believe them like the person who was kicked out in the middle of the night for posting a bad review. I have never had such a Horrible experience as this with any hotel. I filed a report with Choice Hotels, my Credit Card Company, and even the Better Business Bureau. The BBB twice reached out and no answer, the hotel I'm sure has dealt with these things many times and has the formula down to thwart everything. When reviews show 1 star and 5 stars in between, you know there are nefarious business practices being conducted. They are probably trying to scrub the awful reviews and offset them with fake ones. No matter how much they are doing upgrades, this place is still a pig stye with degenerates running the place. Homeless people set up camps all around. Scary! I'm a Hilton Honors Guest for 25 years. This definitely is not up to Hilton standards. Hopefully they will take this into account and send Araceli GM packing.

A Collection of “Missed Opportunities” Let me first start of by saying that the hotel staff was super nice and friendly. The night desk person, I believe her name was Heather, went above and beyond with making my stay a little more palatable experience. Now on to all of the missed opportunities. For context, I was returning home to the So-Fi Stadium/Inglewood area after being up all day and on the road. By the time I got to Redlands, I couldn’t go any further. So I pulled over and checked an app on my phone for hotels, rates, and amenities. I picked the Country Inn and Suites because they offered the best collection of what I was looking for… breakfast, recently renovated rooms, and what appeared to be a good night sleep waiting to happen. I checked in late, so I knew that I wouldn’t be able to get as much “R&R” as I wanted… but I could squeeze in enough before breakfast ended, and still have a couple of hours before checkout to relax. Boy was I wrong! When I checked in, I was told by the desk clerk that she would have to follow me to my room to verify that my key was going to work. That’s because they had recently uninstalled all of the door locks (I’m assuming to paint the doors), and that “some” of them no longer worked properly with the key making machine. Um, okay. Of course my room was one of those rooms with the bad locks. So she had to accompany me up to my room twice because I had to get stuff from my car. Missed opportunity #1. If the hotel verifies (IN ADVANCE) which rooms have working locks and which rooms don’t it would make assigning rooms easier… because no one feels like disturbing someone else every time they want to leave their room. Fast forward to the next morning… I’m trying to get those last few z’s before having to wake up at the end of breakfast to get food. Unfortunately I didn’t get to my alarm that I had set on my phone. I’m hearing rustling through the walls and door of workers getting situated to start their morning. I was told the night before that the hotel was being renovated. I wasn’t told that it would be so loud and that it would wake me up first thing in the morning (between 7:45 and 8am). Checkout time is not until 11am, but your contractor is going to wake me up earlier whether I like it or not. Got it! Missed opportunity #2. You could have put me in a room as far away from the construction as possible. It still wouldn’t have helped in the end, but the gesture would’ve been nice. Now the rustling is turning into full on jackhammering noises from the lobby. They’ve brought in the largest Tile Breaker machine I’ve ever saw in my life to break up all of the common area tiles. I mean this thing is the size of a small forklift, and its breaking tiles left and right… at 8am! If that’s not bad enough, it’s doing it w/o even as much as a sheet of plastic up to contain the dust. After 30 to 40 minutes of listening to this I come to the realization that there’s no more good rest to be had, so I might as well go downstairs to get some breakfast before they end. And that’s when it happens. The cloud of dust kicked up by the demolition triggers the fire alarms… and those things are LOUD! I just so happened to have just entered the elevator when it’s triggered and I watch as the fire doors outside the elevator close me in. The good thing is that they don’t lock you in… they lock others out; but it takes you a second to realize that. Missed opportunity #3. Had they properly masked the lobby and smoke detectors before beginning demolition, that wouldn’t have happened. I’ll be shocked if that TV in the breakfast area still works properly after they failed to cover it up. The dust was that thick down there. Missed opportunity #4 was them failing to tell the guests that due to the demo work, they were going to cut breakfast short. Considering that’s one of the reasons I chose your hotel over others would’ve been good to know in advance. So now I’m mad… and hungry. I didn’t go out late last night to get food because I would have had to get the night desk person to let me back in. And now breakfast was cut short due to construction without prior notice. It couldn’t get any worse right? Wrong. I get back to my room and now one of the construction guys is screwing drywall up on the walls because I can hear his screw gun. Even though its 2 hours til checkout, I realize there’s no rest to be had here. In closing, this will be a very beautiful hotel once it’s completed. BUT… if you’re going to continue to rent out rooms during construction, take into account the needs of your guests OVER the needs of your contractor. And for God sake, put someone over this project that will oversee the construction guys not getting dust and debris everywhere. Nothing bothers me more than workers that don’t mitigate getting dust and debris everywhere. Mask it off, and properly ventilate your work area.

No Rooms need to be up graded. Hallway carpets were dirty and stained. The common areas need to be cleaned. Very close to shopping, there are some good coffee shops and small restaurants, that offer outstanding service.
