Before the fire I've seen all these bad reviews "since" the fire. I am sad to see this has happened to this utterly amazing resort. We stayed several times before the fire and I just can't say enough good about it. The rooms are unique and comfortable, The staff bends over backwards to please and the entire place is just beautiful. I'm sure once they get the renovations done it will be back up to par and better than or was in the past. We loved it and wouldn't miss a stay when in the area. They had amazing package deals (room with meals and drinks included) I'm not sure what more one would ask for in relation to bang for your bucks!! Please you must give this place a try after they complete the renovations!!

Not worth your time This is a hotel that live in the past. Needs a renovation badly. Apparently there was a fire at the Lobby, and it has not repaired since. The rooms are old and worn out. The bathroom was old and dirty. The decoration was 1970's. It seems that this place had its great days a few years ago, and needs investment. I do not recommend this hotel at all. The pictures in trip advisor are misleading.

A strange place Pros first: Nice and clean rooms Cons: No restaurant (still in ruins after a fire), the reception is placed in a normal room, to access my room I had either to cross the pool area or making a detour around the area. As I was just there as a base for birdwatching I didn't really care, however if you want a nice resort stay, you might be disappointed. However, rumours go that the place will undergo a major renovation and will be closed next year for rebuilding, so things may improve.

What a let down! I had a reservation for myself and my daughter for Sunday, April 10th and 11th; arrived on Sunday mid-afternoon, really looking forward to staying at this "beautiful" place. It was deplorable and depressing. Caution tapes preventing access to certain side roads; the check-in was in a room, not a proper check-in site, and while waiting for our chance to check-in, we hear the very nice young lady who was checking someone else in say "we don't have any phones in the rooms right now." What??? If there was an emergency during the night, what would a guest do? There were no other staff of any kind visible, so we cancelled our reservation and went to the Best Western in Nogales that was a 1000% better choice. I wouldn't go back there if they did a remodel - it was terrible and I've never been so sorry about booking a place.

In a Downward Spiral and Fading Fast... My wife was a local (we rented a large block of rooms for our wedding in 2000 and dined there frequently over the years), and she was shocked by the condition of the hotel and grounds as were her family members who live in town when they came to visit us. Obviously, no investment being made to keep the once very beautiful grounds maintained. The good: Nice staff, clean room, wifi works, the view, and a cheap room in Rio Rico. The bad: The once popular restaurant and bar are still closed due to a fire in June of 2015. Haven't seen a tube TV in a hotel for years. Rooms could use a refresh. The room air conditioner was about as quiet as a helicopter. Trees on the outer perimeter are dying and everything looks like it just needs more water and a trim. If you stayed here years ago, you will be disappointed. We paid for our last night but left anyway. Next time I'll stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Nogales, Tubac Golf Resort or someplace in Green Valley.
